Siemens Gamesa RegionAmericas – Quality and EHS Field Operations group is seeking a Field QEHS Specialist to support the region. This position will be located primarily in the Midwest US.
§ Provide advisory and staff assistance to SGRE management at all levels in matters relating to Quality, Environment, Health and Safety.
§ Provide assistance and direction to all employees on Quality, Environment, Health and Safety matters.
§ Keep management informed of the QEHS Program progress and any deficiencies.
§ Investigate and report occupational injuries, illnesses, and accidents as required by Country specific legislation, SGRE requirements, and provide management with recommended actions to prevent recurrence.
§ Provide safety training guidelines and materials as required to site management and employees.
§ Stop any operation deemed unsafe until management can take sufficient corrective action so the operation can be continued safely.
§ Review Quality Environment, Health and Safety procedure compliance as part of the annual review process.
§ Assist with the development, publishing, and maintenance of all Local Specific Procedures and QHSE Plans required to implement and comply with the SGRE Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Policy.
§ Assist with the update of the site specific QEHS Plan and emergency preparedness plans and cooperate with the site to ensure these documents are available and understood on site.
§ Coordinate and collaborate with managers of subcontractors and other participants to ensure that their employees on-site are aware of their QHSE responsibility and have the necessary knowledge and competence to solve the environment, health and safety aspects of their work.
§ Point of contact and support to site for project site operations.
§ Develop Risk Assessments / Job Hazard Analysis / detailed Tailboards whenever necessary.
§ Maintain current knowledge of all applicable country and local environment, health and safety standards and regulations
§ Perform in field audits and inspections with service technicians. Report results of QEHS audits and inspections to management and interface with internal and external technicians.
§ Create, modify and implement standardized processes related to QEHS and operational management to ensure compliance to legal, regulatory and customer needs and requirements.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
§ BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred . Equivalent work experience is acceptable.
§ CSP, CHMM, CSHM or similar preferred
§ Lean, Six Sigma experience preferred. Six Sigma Green belt preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
§ Typically 3-5 years of successful experience in QEHS with a global business.
§ Experience implementing environmental compliance programs in multiple states.
§ Experience working in EHS in USA.
§ Demonstrated knowledge of business best practices and QEHS issues faced in a large global business.
§ Demonstrated success and experience in complex QEHS problem resolution. Experience with Root Cause Analysis and 8D problem solving methodology.
§ Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze complex problems, distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions and to provide solutions to specific and general QEHS matters.
§ Knowledge of Global EHS regulations.
§ Provide specialized guidance to support and/or professional staff. Leadership qualities and role model qualities demonstrated
§ Ability and willingness for domestic travel of 50 %.
DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
§ Direct experience in the power generation industry, preferably Wind Power.
§ Direct experience leading QEHS in a large multinational company with matrix management
§ Project management experience
§ Construction EHS experience
§ Communication and presentation skills
§ Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
§ Experience in root cause analysis and 8D problem solving methodology.
This position requires BS/BA or advanced degree in closely related discipline such as EHS, Safety, Risk Management. Certification may be required in some areas. CSP or CSHM strongly preferred. . Requires 3-5+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities over time. Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues
The position requires that employee be able to ascend to heights up to 250 feet or greater, work in confined spaces, discern colors and meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds. A medical practitioner will perform an initial assessment of fitness for duty, and follow up assessments will occur on a periodic basis.. Ability to travel to wind farms within the designated area of responsibility is required. This position requires approximately 50% travel, with the ability to travel on short notice.
