Job Responsibilities:

The chemical technician will be responsible for production work orders in theLatex Productiongroup. Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:

Particle raw material production

Particle reagent production

Antibody Latex testing: COOP, Linear Op, Final

Antibody reagent production

-- Synthesis of polymeric particles

-- Manufacture of reagents used in immunodiagnostic assays

--Understanding of polymerization reactions

-- Understand the basics of antibody-antigen interactions

-- Wet chemistry methods

-- Document all such activities accurately in standard production worksheets as part of the device history record

-- Operate equipment (analytical and production) to complete all manufacturing procedures as prescribed

-- Maintain the area, complying with all regulatory agency requirements

-- Maintain high efficiency in operations

-- Interface with R&D, DM/VS/Advia/Atellica Technical and other functional organizations within Manufacturing

-- IRDM documents update as needed in support of compliance, process improvement activities and new product development

-- Support continual improvements in multiple areas: procedure upgrades, process development, technical development

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science (e.g. organic, biochemistry, analytical) and/or has more than 5 years of experience in organic synthesis, protein purification, and modifications. Individuals with an associate degree may be considered, depending on candidate's prior job experience. Required skills and experiences will include:

-- Small and large scale chemical reactions

-- Understanding of polymerization reactions

-- Basic laboratory techniques used in a chemistry lab (spectrophotometry, pipetting, handling of chemicals, etc.)

-- Solid knowledge and extensive experience on PETIA and PETINIA methods used for Dimension, Vista, Advia and Atellica platforms

Other relevant skills and experiences may include:

-- Knowledge of GMP regulations

-- Knowledge of GLP

-- Experience on IRDM

-- Basic computer skills

-- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

-- Evidence of being a strong player in a team setting

-- Must be able to work independently, able to multi-task and prioritize

-- Must be a self-starte
