We are looking for a transformative leader to be Senior Operations Director for Grid Control for the U.S and Mexico. This position is located in Minnetonka, MN. You will make an impact by:

  • Hub Americas:

Having full delivery responsibility for Grid Control business across USA, Canada, Central America, South America, and Australia. All the responsibilities mentioned herein apply to that entire area. Collaboration with peers in the global organization

  • Timely Sales Support:

Ensuring the delivery team works closely with the sales team to understand upcoming offers, support demonstrations, and deliver expert guidance during the pre-sales and sales phases.

  • Successful Bid Management:

Helping to ensure that our bid management process is successful and accurate by providing project delivery support during the proposal and hand over phases. You will review resource capacity/loading data, risk/opportunity management, validate schedules and support customer management. You will ensure that future opportunities are accounted for in the resource planning cycle.

  • Quality driven project delivery:

Providing high quality delivery by leading a highly motivated delivery team led by project managers who understand and deploy the key principles of managing a project as well as managing a customer. You will be responsible for the training and performance management of this team. You will provide Energy Management, Advanced Distribution Management, Network Model Management, and Market system solutions. These systems exist to optimize the generation, transmission, and distribution of energy, while protecting the reliability and resilience of the electric grid.

  • Agile Transformation:

Transforming Siemens into an agile business which includes using an agile delivery model. You will lead this agile transformation within all elements of our organization. You will be a catalyst moving our customers to an agile model.

  • Market leading engineering teams:

Leading the engineering team who is a key part of the delivery organization and is spread across multiple countries. You will need to ensure they feel ownership in what they are delivering while motivating them to provide the highest level of project execution. Our teams need to experience a continuous learning culture that encourages them to keep up with the latest methods, processes, and technologies for successful software delivery.

  • Performance Measurements, Management and Reporting:

Being responsible for identifying key performance indicators (KPI) that can be used to measure success in all the areas of the delivery organization. You will be able to report on project status from a data driven as well as a subjective perspective.

  • Delivery performance of the project portfolio

  • Organizational optimization

  • Team continuous learning

  • Project success regarding scope, quality, cost, and schedule

  • Resource planning, tracking and prioritization.

  • Agile implementation

  • Maintain/build employee and customer relationships.

  • Conducting project reviews, identifying risks/opportunities, measuring progress against costs, performing claim management and forecasting

  • Report to executive management on project status and actions

  • Identify and develop best practices.

  • Support sales efforts and campaigns

Your success in grounded in having these basic qualifications:

  • 10 + years of Project Management experience with complex software systems

  • 4 + years of direct management responsibilities for a large team in a matrix organization

  • 5+ years of experience in the electrical grid industry. An understanding of power electronics, challenges of the energy transition, and modern software deployment methods

  • Must be able to travel 25% of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Fluency in Spanish/Portuguese is a plus

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

  • Demonstrated presentation skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to lead a team though change management.

The pay range for this position is $181,900-$311,800. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
