Job Description:

Siemens’ Pension Fund Management (PFM) department is responsible for the oversight and investment management of over $15 billion of retiree benefit plan assets. The department manages assets for plans in the US, Canada and Mexico. PFM reports to Siemens global headquarters’ Pensions Department, a part of Siemens Financial Services, based in Munich, Germany. PFM, comprised of six team members, is based in Iselin, NJ.

As the Pension Fund Management (PFM) Financial Analyst you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial and operational tasks associated with managing investment activities of the Company’s Defined Benefit (“DB”) and Defined Contribution (“DC”) plans, and trusts, reporting to the Vice President, Pension Fund Management. The candidate should have strong analytical and organizational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail; exercise good judgment and be able to work independently; possess strong communication and inter-personal skills; demonstrate an ability to recommend and implement work process improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency; will be highly responsive and proactive, and a team player.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and managethe DC Plans’ databases - track daily participant and other cash flows in 15investment options; follow up as needed to ensure that all entries arereconciled; analyze participant fund movements.

  • DC Plans’ liquiditymanagement - Weekly rebalancing review between investment managers to ensurethey are on target; analyze participant cash flows and make recommendations toensure that cash is available for participant withdrawals from each investmentoption; prepare directives for managers and custodian; confirm accuratecompletion of fund flows with custodian.

  • Pension and SavingsTrusts’ Expenses - Create annual forecast of Trust expenses; track, report andanalyze actual versus forecast; prepare exhibits for inclusion in InvestmentCommittee materials; understand investment manager fee schedules - asset andperformance based; analyze fees for accuracy; follow through to ensure fees arepaid on time; interface with managers, custodial systems; ad-hoc analysis asneeded.

  • Pension Plan’s and SavingsPlan’s Performance Reporting - Review the monthly performance reports receivedfrom the Custodian for accuracy; follow-up with the Custodian and/or investmentmanagers as necessary to reconcile differences in calculated performance;distribute Flash Reports and summary to the President of Siemens Capital and VPPFM; create and distribute performance attribution reports to VP PFM and theInvestment Officer in PFM.

  • Pension TransactionConfirmations – Ensure transaction instructions are implemented as required ;identify and resolve discrepancies.

  • Investment CommitteeMaterials Preparation – Prepare and compile Investment Committee presentationmaterials for quarterly IC meetings.

  • Investment PortfolioCompliance – Use Custodian’s proprietary system to track investment managers’compliance with their investment guidelines; research potential complianceviolations and follow up with investment managers, as necessary; document themonitoring process.

  • Plan audits - Workwith SCC Benefits Accounting and external auditors during the Plans’ audits.

  • Annual RegulatoryReporting - Prepare plans’ legally required annual documents such as the AnnualFee Disclosure Notice, FBAR and Form 5500.

  • Maintain and manageservice providers’ reports, contracts and agreements for all pension andsavings plans, and trusts.

  • Fund Profiles – Updatequarterly fact sheets for investment options offered within the SavingsPlans. Coordinate with record keepers toensure the posting of the profiles onto employee websites.

  • Plan Activity Tracker– track and document the completion of departmental activities, projects, etc.for the Savings and Pension Plans and trusts.

Education: B.A/B.S. in Finance/Accounting/Economics/Business.

Experience: At least 2+ years of experience in the same or related field; Interest in financial markets.

Skills: MS Office Suite, especially Excel; Strong analytical skills; Attentive to details.
