Position Overview

The Vertical Market Manager – Industrial role supports the Energy Management Division (EM) and its seven Business Units in the United States by comprehensively evaluating, developing and driving key strategies and actions to enhance and promote profitable growth and penetration in target industrial vertical market segments and related channels. The role will engage directly with the vertical sales organizations, national / corporate account managers, EM business units, and EM sales teams to prioritize accounts and opportunities, and to engage and align resources for tactical pursuit. The marketing focus primarily will be low voltage and medium voltage products and systems, as well as other products and solutions across the entire Siemens Energy Management portfolio including high voltage products and systems, power transformers, digital grid and micro grid solutions, and related technical services and electrical packaged solutions. The role reports into the Division Strategy & Strategic Marketing department and will work nationwide on target industrial vertical sales segments.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter who can formulate business plans and collaboratively organize teams across multiple organizations to exceed joint growth target goals. Technically, at a minimum, this candidate will have a strong working knowledge of electrical distribution and protection products, systems and solutions, and will be able to form solid working relationships with business units for internal support and alignment. The candidate must have the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and to lead diverse teams.


The primary goal is to increase sales and grow market share in the industrial channel with a specific focus on vertical markets (e.g., Food & Beverage, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, etc.) and target accounts that align with the Energy Management Division value proposition and related offerings.

  • Collaboratively engage with industrial vertical sales teams and national / corporate account managers to create and drive a national vertical strategy for the EM Division.

  • Engage and support Siemens Vertical market teams, alongside other Siemens Divisions, to represent EM and drive EM strategy into vertical sales organizations, target accounts, and broaden EM footprint in the vertical

  • Lead activities with both EM sales and Business Unit technical support teams to position EM for optimal success within target accounts and overall broader vertical industry opportunities

  • Work alongside national account managers to engage directly with target accounts to favorably position EM through activity such as early project design development, life-cycle cost evaluations, negotiating frame agreements, and similar activity

  • Track and support account specific initiatives through use of the Siemens CRM system,

  • Develop and maintain a reliable pipeline of opportunities and communicate how those opportunities align with the national sales strategy

  • Track opportunities in the target vertical, report to vertical sales organizations and EM business units on pipeline and order intake volumes, and identify steps to increase success rates

  • Define the vertical-specific value propositions across all EM solutions, and engage with business unit marketing communications and product line management resources to create effective marketing programs / collateral

  • Monitor industry trends, conduct market and competitive intelligence analyses, and identify areas where EM can deliver more value, create new solutions and increase commercial offerings to end users

  • Represent EM Division interests and increase awareness of Siemens within the vertical industry through participation in applicable trade associations, organizations, etc.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Candidate minimum qualifications and experience include:

  1. BS/BA in related discipline, preferably in an engineering or technically related field

  2. Minimum of 7 years experience in a technically oriented industry, preferably in an electrical- or engineering-based business

  3. Experience working with clients at both operations and management levels (direct Sales experience in industrial focused business or customer base is highly preferred)

  4. Ability to technically and conceptually engage with customers throughout the project development process (i.e., interpret one-line diagrams, develop standard specifications, etc.)

  5. Proven ability to collaboratively and credibly influence others, both internally and externally

  6. Demonstrated track record of developing and driving business processes and planning methodologies based on business case cause and effects

  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills
