Job Description:

The successful Biochemist 2 candidate will perform the research, experimentation, and analysis, for ADVIA Centaur Design Change projects in Walpole CPS. In this role, the Biochemist 2 will investigate the impact upon product performance due to change in critical raw material, or due to manufacturing process changes to improve the product’s manufacturability.

The successful candidate will be able to plan and execute feasibility, characterization, and verification studies. analyze data, write technical plans and reports, and present data at technical peer reviews. The successful candidate will be able to analyze problems in a structured and systematic manner, determine the root cause, and work up potential solutions, and evaluate down-stream impacts. The position will involve close collaboration with departmental and cross-functional manufacturing, quality and regulatory colleagues in order to implement design changes. The successful candidate is able to work independently or in a team environment with R&D scientists, Project Managers, Quality Control and Manufacturing personnel.

Desired Skills

  • Background and experience in Immunology, specifically in antibody-antigen immuno-chemistry.

  • Understanding of the assay architecture for competitive and sandwich immuno-chemistry assays.

  • Goal driven with the proven ability to interpret data and to resolve technical issues (experience in DOE and ANOVA is desirable.)

  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of statistics enabling the ability to work cross functionally with statisticians.

  • Have experience in design control, risk management and the CAPA process.

  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills. Be able to give presentations and partake in peer reviews in a clear and concise manner.

  • Experience in manufacturing according to GMP is desirable.

  • Ability to multi-task and to support multiple project teams in cross functional settings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Minitab is desirable

Position Requirements

BA/BS in chemistry, biology or biological sciences, with 6 yrs industry or academic experience, or MA/MS with 3 yrs industry or academic experience
