Siemens Smart Infrastructure is currently searching for a Sales Manager for our Energy Performance Services Distributed Energy Sales team. The primary responsibility of the Sales Manager is to promote Siemens strong market position for delivering distributed energy solutions including Solar, Battery and Microgrid projects and services to help our customers create outstanding experiences for their customers. In this role, you will lead a team of account executives and drive commitment and accountability across the US to achieve/exceed sales goals. Ideal candidates will understand customer needs, create and implement a sales strategy, and create value propositions for our customers. In addition, you will use your strong leadership and communication skills and passion for team building to find and hire top talent, develop employees, and promote long-term retention.

As the Distributed Energy Sales Manager, you will:

  • Develop value propositions for target vertical markets including commercial and industrial, healthcare, higher education, and state and local government.

  • Develop short term (3‒6 months) and long-term (2‒3 years) strategic sales plans.

  • Establish executive-level relationships with targeted customers.

  • Develop and implement direct and indirect sales organizational structures and sales plans.

  • Develop sales forecasts and provide input to sales targets.

  • Maintain trade contacts and participate in industry association functions.

  • Communicate goals, provide mentoring to develop skills, lead employee performance, and conduct performance appraisals.

  • Manage sales activity and track key sales metrics (funnel management, sales process, coverage of critical accounts, compliance topics, etc.).

  • Promote team selling and expansion of existing relationships across divisions and/or geographic areas.

  • Act as a resource to sales employees regarding our products, applications, and services; support the sales process through all phases, including job turnover and implementation.

  • Coach sellers to strategically assess customer needs and identify customer buying priorities.

  • Review bids to ensure accuracy to meet company and customer objectives. Assist employees in setting margins, identifying resources, and assessing future business.

  • Network with field organization, headquarters, and other Siemens divisions to gain knowledge of

  • offerings; share knowledge with your team and other employees.

  • Assist the sales team in identifying market opportunities; develop strategies to improve impact to the company.

  • Articulate and drive our digitalization strategy, remote services, and big data analytics.

  • Travel overnight 40% on average for training and business development.

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 5 years of sales experience and proven track record in the distributed energy field; 10+ years preferred

  • Industry knowledge of the Energy Services Company (ESCO) and Distributed Energy markets, including trends and key financial and organizational influences that support customer investment decisions

  • Proven leadership capabilities to inspire and lead an organization with a track record for establishing growth and development of sales personnel

  • Strong business and financial acumen with ability to match financing programs with customer goals and objectives

  • Ability to manage contracts and solutions as a win-win for both customers and Siemens

  • Ability to manage and lead change

  • Ability to balance the needs of the customer with the financial goals of the company

  • Proven track record in a solution- or consultative-selling environment

  • Management experience in the energy or construction industries preferred

  • Technical proficiency in application of mechanical systems, electrical systems, IT, building technologies, and demand-side energy management preferred

  • Ability to interpret job specifications and drawings to coach sellers in developing winning strategies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • 10 years of sales experience and proven track record in the distributed energy field

  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM

  • The pay range for this position is $118,790 - $203,640 and the annual incentive target is 25%. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
