Position Overview:

The Bid Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end bid process, ensuring the successful preparation, submission, and tracking of bids and proposals for rail projects. This role requires a technical understanding of the rail components, operations overview, project management skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality bids.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Bid Development: Understand the technical and commercial requirements of the project and align HQ group in Nuremberg, Germany along with Rolling Stock group in Sacramento, CA

  • Bid Coordination and Management: Lead and manage the bid process, coordinating with internal stakeholders (engineering, finance, procurement, etc.) and external partners/subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure timely submission of bids.

  • Proposal Creation: Prepare a technically accurate, and commercially sound proposal and ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with bids, ensuring all submissions are in line with regulatory, safety, and quality standards specific to the rail industry.

  • Client Relationship Management: Foster relationships with Rolling Stock group in Sacramento, CA, understand their needs, and tailor bids to address their specific requirements. Attend meetings, presentations, and negotiations as needed.

  • Strong follow-through and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Must be able to complete job responsibilities working within different time zone as needed such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet business needs.

  • Can develop project schedules as needed with limited information.

  • Should have knowledgeable of FTA Buy America and FRA Buy American programs. Will be expected to become the resident expert for the Traction Group.

  • Have experience working with tactical and strategic purchasing

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a bid management role within the rail industry or similar sectors.

  • In-depth knowledge of rail technologies, regulations, and market trends.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple bids simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills to create technically sound proposals.

  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and strong decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

The base salary range for this position in Alpharetta, GA is $107,500 - $145,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary.
