Position Overview

Every business relies upon transportation in some capacity, which is a testament as to how integral this function is to our business. You will become a part of a team that is highly involved in the North Star Project with the goal to deliver core materials to internal customers within 48 hours. As such, your position as Transportation Coordinator will offer a dynamic opportunity to engage with colleagues throughout Siemens Wind Power, while becoming familiar with global logistics processes to support company objectives.

Responsibilities

As Transportation Coordinator, you will be expected to carry out these functions, and all others assigned to support strategic goals for Deliver and Return corporate policies:

  • To support the Siemens Wind Power ownership culture by practicing and displaying the three core elements: behavior, leadership, and people orientation

  • Ensure safety procedures are followed when scheduling shipments for hazardous and non-hazardous material in support of a zero-harm culture

  • Coordinate daily planned shipment strategies with warehouse personnel for parcel, LTL and truckloads

  • Identify cost saving measures in support of productivity business objectives

  • Lead daily scheduling to oversee timely delivery of shipments

  • Support team productivity and key performance metrics to obtain 90% shipments released in time

  • Support implementation of global transport processes and the development of policies and procedures for domestic and international logistics, inclusivie of ECC regulations

  • Maintain forwarder delivery performance and conduct status meetings

  • Support logistics implementation at various 3PL facilities

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Education: Bachelors Degree preferred; but may substitute experience

  • Technical proficiency in utilizing FedEx, UPS, and TMS portals to schedule shipments

  • Gain technical proficiency in reviewing and approving costs for scheduled shipments in CASS

  • Industry/business acumen (specify type and number of years)

  • Work experience: minimum of 5 years in warehouse material logistics and returns.

  • Knowledge of principals and methods for moving hazardous and non-hazardous material, with applicable certifications

  • A working knowledge of applicable laws: EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations

  • Ability to work within RBP and create Customs Invoices

  • Ability to travel 15-20% in support of logistics business objectives

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in any related discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years direct logistics experience, inclusive of domestic, international, hazardous shipments

  • Hazmat certifications

  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a team or independently across organizational boundaries
