About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

We are looking for a Substation Automation Application Engineer. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.

Overview:

You will be responsible for providing technical support to Customers on Siemens Substation Automation products, including SICAM PAS, WinCC, SICAM SCC, SICAM A8000, SIPROTEC.

General Responsibilities:

• Product and system support, troubleshoot, product training

• Development of special applications.

• Developing projects using the technology above including the design of the concept of a substation automation system

• Creating the necessary documentation

• Configuring and testing the system.

• Developing proof of concept solutions

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Similar with applicable experience

• A minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience preferably in the power automation or protection engineering field.

• expertise on Siemens A8000 substation automation system including the ability of designing, configuring, testing and putting into operation a complete system;

• expertise with the following communication protocols: IEC61850; IEC 104; PROFINET; DNP Ethernet

• capable of configuring SIPROTEC relays and integrating them into the substation automation system

• ability to provide product level 2 (expert) support to Siemens products (A8000; SICAM PAS; WinCC; SIPROTEC

• expertise on Cyber Security for Substation Automation Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Work experience with power utilities as customers

• Knowledge of ANSI standards, IEC standards.

• Line Transmission and Distribution protection

• Generator protection for small, medium, and large generators (including protection settings calculation)

• High voltage, distribution, and generation applications

• Knowledge of the multiple vendors' relay products and associated software

• Project Lead experience

• Professional Engineer license

• The pay range for this position is $98,980 - $169,680. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
