Job Description:

Main Responsibilities:

The Commercial Project Manager will have financial and commercial responsibility for construction contracts in the industrial, construction, and energy market and will be a business partner to Technical Project Managers. The scope of responsibility includes external customer revenue generating projects which have a contract life of one to three years. The qualified individual will enter and maintain the financial and project related transactions of the order and project within SAP and Salesforce.com. The individual will also participate into the proposal stage of an opportunity reviewing the price and cost calculation, reviewing the LOA (Limits of Authority) as well as reviewing customer terms & conditions. The individual will support change order and claim management in the execution stage of a project. The individual must have the ability to work within a matrix organization, collaborate with Technical Project Managers, Commercial Project Managers, Engineering, Proposal Management, Business Management, and customers to accomplish business goals and ensure customer satisfaction.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or Economics

Other Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement projects across multiple functions

  • Preparation of the needed reporting for monthly project review meetings

  • Preparation of quarterly percentage of completion audit reporting requirements

  • Prepare KPI reporting for project business segment

  • Prepare and present presentations to peers and management

  • Analyze large amounts of data, interpret, and summarize the findings

  • Writes procedures and policies as well as implement them

Key Skills:

  • Intermediate understanding of customer contracts/terms & conditions

  • Experience reviewing terms & conditions to identify commercial risk

  • Working knowledge of construction contract accounting (i.e. percentage of completion and completed contract accounting)

  • Financial forecasting of revenue & costs for construction projects

  • Financial forecast of cash flow

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Understanding of procurement processes

  • Knowledge of standard costing systems

  • Experience with change order & claims management

  • Ability to lead meetings & drive margin improvement on projects

  • Ability to identify and risks early in a project

  • Comfortable discussing commercial contract issues with customers

  • Candidate must possess strong analytical, managerial, organizational & internal control skills
