The Project Management Specialist (5) is responsible for leading Product Development teams in the planning, scheduling, tracking, coordinating, and monitoring of projects that deliver in vitro diagnostic products to the market.
As a Core Team Leader for multiple projects, responsibilities include:
Lead and Manage a cross-functional team representing all aspects of the entire Product Development life cycle. Create and track budgets for the project. Acts as the Project Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) and coaches planners and lower level Project Managers within the project team relating to good PM practices. Motivates and leads a cross-functional, usually multi-site product development team. This may include members of the project team who are part of another company or companies where contractual as well as personnel management must be effectively managed to insure project success. Assures that the project is tracked and all product and project deliverables (quality, performance, cost, schedule, and revenue) are met within their planned tolerances and as close to target as possible. Identifies needed decisions and driving decision making process. Manages the scope, schedule, and budget of the project. Schedules and leads meetings to coordinate interdepartmental project activities required to resolve project issues. Manages and plans submissions to regulatory agencies. Interfaces with Senior Functional Managers and Sector and Business Unit leadership as needed for resource management and performance reviews. Involved with negotiating, and then managing, business agreements between Siemens organizational units and between the project and suppliers, OEM partners, or Co-development partners. Manages project communications to all stakeholders (project teams, functional managers, internal and external customers, and senior management), including meeting minutes, monthly updates, communications meetings, and phase reviews. Facilitates the exchange of information between departments on a day-to-day basis and maintains liaison with all members of the project team between project team meetings.
Advanced scientific, technology and/or business degrees are highly desirable and can substitute for some required experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification not required but is a key differentiator. Knowledge and/or experience with Set Based Design, Agile, and Scrum are a key differentiator. Requires basic skills in the product development process and a general business understanding, preferably in the medical device industry. Six plus years of industry experience, which should include 3 years experience managing complex projects. Strong analytical skills to assess situations and drive decision making. Ability to coordinate across disciplines and integrate all aspects of business as they impact development projects including negotiation of scope, roles and responsibilities, specifications, timelines, and resources up, across, and down organization. Experience in producing written reports (i.e. published papers, company reports, etc.). Demonstrated effective written and oral communications skills. Familiarity with key software and decision making tools. Ability to function in a changing, high-impact position, with deadline and resource constraints.
