For the Gas Turbines Innovation and Engineering Hub in Shanghai, Siemens is seeking to fill the position of Gas Turbine Control Engineer at the earliest opportunity.
The gas turbine power plants are configured as simple cycle or combined cycle with an output range of 200 MW to 1000 MW or more.
The position is in LGT Shanghai Engineering Hub in the Siemens Ltd. China (SLC) that functionally reports to PG GT GCO PC (Power & Gas, Large Gas Turbines & Generators, Global Customer Operations Packaging). This position requires travel to Germany for training.
The gas turbine control engineer will work with engineering teams in Germany and use the Siemens Reference design to develop, design and maintain project specific design for large gas turbine application. Develop and / or modify GT auxiliary systems’ designs to meet customer requirements for China and Global projects, as well as R&D programs.
What are my responsibilities?
As the gas turbine control engineer the responsibilities include tendering, new unit design, project execution and operating plant technical support for power plants in China.
Tendering responsibilities include:
Support sales and marketing organizations
Participate in workshops with design institutes, as required
Review and comment to customer specifications
Prepare bid documents
Participate in customer negotiation meetings in China
Project Execution responsibilities include:
Participates in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up. Provides support in semi-complex design, development, testing and modifications of solutions. Provides support in preparing explanations and clarifies information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of semi-complex specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data. Participates in communicating semi-complex technical and commercial issues. May participate in recommending semi- complex new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements.
Integrating customer specific requirements in the control system design
Interfacing with the customer to identify the interface to the Gas Turbine control system
Specifying control system hardware
Preparing the project specific T3000 software
Testing the software
Supporting commissioning and start-up of the Gas Turbine from the back-office and from time to time at the project site.
Resolve field issues as required.
Ability to travel in China 10%.
Ability to travel to Germany for training
Work in a cross-functional team with procurement, quality engineering, project management, local and global engineering teams for project execution.
Coordinate gas turbine control system design activities and interfaces with internal & external engineering disciplines, procurement department, sales locally and globally.
Support local service group, as required.
Work with external contractors, as required.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
A BS degree in control, mechanical or electrical engineering with knowledge of
gas or steam turbine operation and distributed digital control system and its application in power plants is required. An important component of this position would involve the ability to learn SPPA-T3000 control system design.
BS in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
Demonstrates a good grasp of knowledge and principles of field of specialization and applies through successful completion of assignments. Successfully applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.
Typically 2-5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
