Job Description


For our Corporate Technology (CT) in Shanghai, Siemens is seeking for a Piping and Plant Layout Engineer for gas turbine power plant at the earliest opportunity. The gas turbine power plants are configured as simple cycle or combined cycle with an output range of 200 MW to 1000 MW or more.

The position is in LGT Shanghai Engineering Hub in the CT DD DS AA CN SH department that functionally reports to PG GT GCO PC (Power & Gas, Large Gas Turbines & Generators, Global Customer Operations Packaging). This position requires travel to Germany for training.

Candidate will work with engineering teams in Germany and use the Siemens Reference design to develop the detailed design for projects in China and East Asia.

What are my responsibilities?

As the design engineering for the GT auxiliaries’ piping and plant layout in scope of GCO PC for Gas Turbine Power Plant, responsibilities include new unit design project execution.

  • Prepare project specific specifications and Piping Drawings based on the reference design documents as required.

  • Responsible for project specific 3D Piping Models. Must be able to review Interference Checking.

  • Review vendor drawings as required.

  • Complete interface with various disciplines at all levels.

  • Resolve field Interference Issues as required.

  • Review and comment to customer specifications in support of sales and marketing organizations.

  • Ability to travel in China after initial training 15%.

  • Trainings in Germany will be provided in the initial stage after onboard.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work in a cross-functional team with procurement, quality engineering, and global engineering for new supplier qualification in China.

  • Coordinate piping and plant layout engineering activities and interfaces with internal & external engineering disciplines, procurement department, sales locally and globally.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Bachelor or master degree in piping engineering with emphasis on power systems is preferred.

  • 3+ years’ experience in power plant piping engineering

  • Familiar with ASME, GB codes requirements.

  • Familiar with Pipe fabrication requirements and material selections is preferred.

  • Experience in creating / changing Bill of Materials, specifications, etc is preferred.

  • Knowledge of ASME piping parts as weldolets, fittings, material, etc is preferred.

  • Knowledge of at least one 3D CAD tool (PDS, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D or Open Plant) is preferred.
