Job Description

We are currently looking for Gas Turbine Casing Mechanical Design Engineer for Siemens Corporate Technology.

What are my responsibilities?

The mechanical design engineer will develop, upgrade/optimize and maintain casing components design for Siemens large gas turbine platforms, as well as resolve assigned technical issues.

  • Collaborate with local and global integrated project team (IPT) to develop casing components to fulfill all functional requirements and responsible for design intent verification

  • Proactively work with customers, interface partners, experts, supply chain management, manufacturing, assembly shop, validation and service team on designs and technical solutions

  • Provide project lead the inputs i.e. schedule, effort estimation, technical risk & mitigation, test and validation plan etc.

  • Carry out or coordinate modeler/drafter internal or external to create CAD model and drawing according to Siemens internal standards, process and best practice

  • Assures delivered product definition (drawings, 3d-models, specifications, BOM) quality and following the design releasing process

  • Lead design review, and prepare associated review packages i.e. product definitions, design report, risk assessment, reference documents etc.

  • Support manufacturing deviation assessment and production qualification process

  • Track and resolve problems found during testing or field engines

  • Develop ways and address opportunity to further reduce product life cycle cost, as well as support localization activities

  • Develop innovations to improve the design tool, process and methods

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Thorough understanding of CAD tools

  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical design

  • Basic knowledge in mechanical integrity

  • Advanced knowledge of Design To X (i.e. Design To Cost, Design to Manufacture, Design to Service etc.)

  • Familiar with gas turbine principles is a plus

  • Familiar with six sigma methods and tools is a plus

  • Master Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline


  • 2+ years’ experience working with machinery design

  • Experience in NX, Teamcenter

  • Strong background in engineering mechanics and mechanical design

  • Experience in turbo machinery i.e. gas turbine, steam turbine will be preferred

  • Manufacturing or material properties understanding a plus

  • Technical project management experience a plus


  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with multi-cultural colleagues, customers, industry experts, and university associates.

  • Strong soft personal skill i.e. team player, quick leaner, ability to adapt quickly and effectively etc.

  • Highly motivated, reliable and self-directed

  • Project management and presentation skills are highly desirable.


  • English language skills are essential. Fluent English in reading, writing and communication required.
