Job Description:

Project Engineer- position based at customer location in Mankato, MN

Mankato, MN

*approximately 70 miles south west of Minneapolis*

The Siemens Energy Service organization provides comprehensive service programs to its customers with large frame combustion turbine power plants. These service programs provide extensive support for the customer throughout the duration of program with a focus on planning for scheduled outages and addressing unscheduled outages as they arise. For this new service program Siemens Energy will provide even more in depth support to the customers with a Resident Engineer based at the power plant The Resident Engineer will be the first line of interaction with and support to the customer.

Job Responsibilities & Overview:

  • Provide prime customer interface and manage Long Term Program (LTP) Maintenance contracts for operating plant combustion turbines.

  • Work with the DSO (District Service Office) and District Sales Manager for increasing the scope of plant services, outages and issues. A high degree or customer relationship management and financial project management skills are required. Manage increases in scope to ensure they are implemented properly & in a timely manner as well as controlling internal costs and ensuring all commercial issues are resolved properly.

  • Prepare Total Maintenance Service (TMS) meeting documents and facilitate TMS meetings between the assigned customer and Siemens personnel to plan maintenance outages, implement product modifications and upgrades to the plant. The product modifications typically restore or improve availability/reliability, solve operating issues, reduce Long Term Program cost or improve performance.

  • Coordinate with the customer and Siemens repair facilities when customer components are sent off-site for refurbishment and/or repair.

  • Establish and identify LTP Parts Pooling demand, configuration, and fulfillment needs.

  • Establish and control costing strategies while developing and executing logistic requirements within the LTP Term Warranty fleet.

  • Provide technical interface and maintain customer relationships up through customer headquarters operations personnel.

  • Keep customers advised of modifications affecting operation and maintenance of units.

  • Recommend and technically sell improvement and upgrade programs.

  • With customer, plan, schedule, make recommendations and implement CT outages.

  • Create planned and unplanned outage schedules and manage them as the work efforts are implemented.

  • Identify and resolve warranty and commercial issues.

  • Ensure technical correspondence, operating history and configuration records are maintained.

  • Analyze, interpret and help resolve problems associated with forced outages.

  • Manage the contract parts ordering/delivery and repairs.

  • Manage LTP contract program financials and present financial status to LTP management each quarter..

  • Assist the customer with startup and operational issues.

  • Coordinate with the customer and Siemens personnel when planned as well as unplanned outages occur.

  • Assist in the tuning of the gas turbines to maximize performance and minimize emissions.

  • Be available to the customer during odd hours (available for OT as needed).

  • Additional responsibilities required by the customer.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Experience & Education :

  • This function requires a dedicated, self-starting, creative individual with a working knowledge of combustion turbine plants (F-Frame), project engineering skills and good commercial sense.

  • The selected candidate will be required to attain there PM@Siemens certification within 1 year, this includes becoming Project Management Institute, PMP certified (Project Management Professional).

  • Excellent customer relationship skills

Desired Knowledge/Skills, Experience & Education:

  • Field Service experience

  • Experience managing an outage

  • Gas Turbine experience especially the F-Frame fleet.

  • Balance of Plant knowledge

  • Experience managing spreadsheets with information regarding parts

  • Previous experience inventorying parts in a warehouse environment

-Ability to travel 25%

-AS or equivalent experience

BS in Engineering or advanced degree
