Job Description:

The Manufacturing Weld Supervisor Job has the primary responsibility to ensure completion of the project on schedule and budget ensuring Quality expectations and cost effective manufacturability are attained, ensure Safety policies are followed by all direct reports during production process, adhere and enforce WPS required to manufacture products. This role will work either on 1st shift or 2nd shift schedules. • Monitor daily team activity to ensure time standards are met while ensuring standardized work instructions are followed. - Ensure direct reports are properly trained to perform duties including weld standards, Work Order, WPS, manufacturing process etc.

• Ensure direct reports are equipped with proper tooling and PPE.

• Capable to identify risk areas and develop action driven activities implementing actions to eliminate risk coordinating effort with responsible Industrial Engineering.

• Work within core team, assigning / reporting to a steering committee and Manager, projecting efforts involved with implementation, and identifying impacts to the business.

• Capable to identify resources required for production (Headcount planning and forecasting) based on budget requirements. Capable to develop and implement quickly recovery plans in the event of schedule delays.

• Coordinating and communicating technical information to and from all levels of the organization including project managers, production team members, and operations managers and above.

Developing department procedures to improve business and engineering transactions.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in production supervision OPS vehicle production (e.g. rail, aviation, naval, heavy equipment or welding).

• Demonstrated knowledge of the structure and make up of vehicles, including welding activities, fabrication and assembly.

• Demonstrated firm project management skills, including developing project plans, timelines / schedules, budgets, proposed layouts, resource requirements, calculating ROI, driving projects in very adverse conditions. etc.

• Required travel: 20 percent

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.

• Preferred education and focus: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical or Industrial or Welding Engineering highly preferred;

• Six Sigma Master Black Belt / Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean Expert Certification

• Bi-lingual German and English is a plus.

• Bi-Lingual Spanish and English is a plus.
