Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

The Validation Engineer will be responsible for crafting and reviewing test procedures for the various railway projects including light rail vehicles, locomotives, and passenger coaches. The position objective is to review all the various design documents and understand and identify how to validate both the design and production of the vehicle. The candidate will need to work with various system engineers, design engineers, suppliers, and technicians to understand the design and improve the tests that are performed.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate overall integration of all subsystems on the vehicle.

  • Review engineering design documents and schematics and verify compliance with system requirements, interface specifications, and technical specifications.

  • Prepare and develop test plans and procedures to perform system and system integration testing according to various railway standards.

  • Review existing procedures and protocols for scope and accuracy.

  • Support technicians and engineers by helping perform the tests and troubleshoot sophisticated problems.

  • Perform type tests utilizing data acquisition devices and various sensors including load cells, current transducers, accelerometers, and temperature sensors.

  • Automate and look for advancements with current test procedures and processes.

Job Qualification:

  • Preferred 3+ years of related experience in the Railway Industry or compatible industry

  • Preferred Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related fields

  • Experience preparing test design documents, and test procedures

  • Decision-making ability & problem-solving skills

  • Ability to understand electrical schematics

  • Proficient in English

  • Communication & computer skill

  • Experience with data acquisition

The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
