Siemens Rolling Stock - Urban Transport Business

Siemens is the market leader in light rail vehicles (LRV) in North America, having built more than 1000 rail vehicles for 17 cities in the US and Canada. One out of every three light rail vehicles in North America is a Siemens vehicle.

Siemens innovation provided the first low-floor light-rail vehicles to the United States when it delivered Portland’s 70 percent low-floor LRV in 1998. The low-floor design enhances operational efficiency and accommodates those with impaired mobility. Meanwhile, Venezuela’s Metro Valencia was the company’s first export contract with twelve vehicles operating on the new transit system. In January 2004, Siemens unveiled the first fully operational S70 low-floor light-rail vehicle. In 2013, Siemens introduced the new S200 high-floor light rail vehicle – a hybrid creation combining industry leading innovations with the best elements from both of our successful SD160 high-floor and S70 low-floor light rail platforms.

In this job you will coordinate Quality Assurance activities for all manufacturing areas and for all platforms/projects.

Position Overview

Responsibilities

Coordination and deployment of Supplier Quality Management. Relevant activities include:

  1. Directs a technical staff of inspectors, technicians in a complex, fast-paced work environment.

  2. Coordinates all quality assurance activities within the operations.

  3. Directs decision making on manufacturing quality issues using standards and requirements.

  4. Manages issues that are complex with many competing priorities.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

BS/BA or equivalent experience.

Experience resolving manufacturing quality issues. Experienced in highly engineered, low volume, large scale commercial product production.

Supervision of staff experience.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

BS/BA in Engineering or advanced degree.

Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical and

electromechanical systems, structures and engineering

documentation.

Detailed working knowledge of quality system requirements for

medical device company with manufacturing focus.

Advanced working knowledge of requirements for Product and

Process Validation, Internal Audit program, CAPA program,

Nonconforming material management.

Experience participating in and leading in multifunctional teams.

Experience with process flows, SOPs, forms and instructions to

streamline working practice.

American Society for Quality Certification preferred.
