Siemens is the market leader in light rail vehicles (LRV) in North America, having built more than 1000 rail vehicles for 17 cities in the US and Canada. One out of every three light rail vehicles in North America is a Siemens vehicle.
Siemens innovation provided the first low-floor light-rail vehicles to the United States when it delivered Portland’s 70 percent low-floor LRV in 1998. The low-floor design enhances operational efficiency and accommodates those with impaired mobility. Meanwhile, Venezuela’s Metro Valencia was the company’s first export contract with twelve vehicles operating on the new transit system. The Quality Manager coordinates supplier quality management efforts for all projects.
Coordination and deployment of Supplier Quality Management activities including:
Ensures standardized supplier qualification process according corporate guidelines.
Defines preventive quality methods aimed at risk minimization. Designs, maintains and improves specific Quality requirements, specification and concepts based on supplier categorization.
Coordinates the qualification and approval of suppliers, in cooperation with purchasing, and plans and executes Supplier Audits including follow up of audit measures.
Coordinates product/service qualifications and approvals based on specific requirements / specification, including First Article Inspections
Collaborates in the creation of technical specifications
Creates and negotiates Quality Assurance agreements, and monitors implementation in supplier processes.
Drives performance and continuous improvement management and collaborates in supplier development programs.
Implements complaint management to detect and analyze non-conformance and communicates with supplier. Supports sustainable problem solving.
Defines SQM targets.
Applies consistent application of the total cost of ownership principles.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
BS/BA or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Quality Management principles.
Experience with supplier qualification processes.
Experience creating Quality Assurance Agreements.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
BS/BA in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or Business Administration.
Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical and electromechanical systems, structures and engineering documentation.
American Society for Quality Certification preferred.
