Our Penn Hall facility is located east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is home to Siemens Energy Service's Turbine Generator Field Services. From this location (and with team members located across the Americas) we perform major repairs, upgrades, maintenance and inspection on the turbine generator fleets of Siemens, Westinghouse, Allis Chalmers and Parsons. Our Team can perform almost any major service offered by the factory and service can be performed at a customer site. We are seeking several Generator Services - Winder Technicians "B". Relocation is not required.
Assist other winder technicians with all electro-mechanical activities involving repair, installation, testing, and winding operations to meet the required manufacturing and engineering specifications on turbine generator field service equipment.
In addition to the general duties the Winder performs the following
o Assist winding operations in a productive manner that meets the manufacturing and engineering specifications on all turbine generator field and factory equipment of both Siemens Westinghouse, Westinghouse OEM and other manufacturer’s designs, including but not limited to, stators, rotors, exciters, voltage regulators, and other related rotating and stationary equipment.
o Assist with electro-mechanical operations of various types relating to the testing and servicing of turbine generator equipment.
o Assist in performance of turbine generator inspections, specialty services (e.g.: EL CID, FFA, FFL, etc.) and related work assignments.
o Assist with winding and machining, assembly, tool setup and operation, work package and other documentation use and implementation, and any other winding/machining tasks that are required to maintain product line service capabilities.
o Communicate work instructions and personal understanding of tasks assigned with leaders and peers, that enables all employees on the project to perform in a manner that maintains and meets task criteria and schedule.
o Complete and assume responsibility for maintaining personal Time and Expense reports on a weekly basis .
o Perform all functions in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a safe working environment that abides by the division safety policy.
o Assist and make recommendations for the development and improvement of winding procedures and techniques to appropriate personnel.
o Perform other product line work, as assigned.
Frequent contact and interaction with Field Service Engineers, Shift Leaders, Senior Technicians and Class A Technicians to receive general direction of work and consult on various problems. Continuous contact with other winder technicians and alternate resource technicians to provide instruction, guidance, and direction on projects is required.
This position occasionally, directs less experienced winder technicians and other personnel assigned to complete job within the allotted time schedule. Occasionally, the individual will provide technical and procedural guidance and direction to other winder technicians. The individual will work closely under guidance and direction provided by the Field Service Engineer or Senior Technician’s.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

o High School diploma or recognized equivalent like a GED
o Two years related industrial experience and/or training.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
o Ability to do mathematic operations such as basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
o The individual should be familiar and able to use hand and power tools. Able to operate machinery such as Hytorq equipment, pneumatic wedging guns, sanders, saws, etc.
o Must be able to enter and exit generator.
o Must be able to climb and work in awkward positions inside a generator frame.
o While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle or feel, and reach with hands, arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
o Must be able to pass an extended background check for unescorted access at nuclear sites.
o Individual must be willing and able for domestic and international air travel up to 75+% of the time. Must live within a 60 minute drive of a major airport.
o Must be able to meet demands of aggressive schedules.
