The Turbine Design department is seeking an experienced Turbine engineer.This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced dynamic product development environment for industrial gas turbine engines at Siemens Energy in the Orlando or Jupiter FL office. The primary responsibilities are test data evaluation, verification and validation of hot gas path components with respect to structural and dynamic integrity. Structural and dynamic integrity have a direct impact on gas turbine Life Cycle Cost and as such are primary factors for customers when purchasing a gas turbine. This position therefore has a direct impact on Siemens competitive ability. This position is within the Large Gas Turbine rotation components engineering organization and reports to the Turbine Mechanical Integrity manager (US).
Design engine test configurations and prepare engine test specifications for hot gas path components, e.g. blades, vanes, ring segments.
Process, evaluate and document Turbine test data with focus on structural and dynamic integrity thru test instrumentation such as tip timing, strain gages, etc.
Use test data and field measurements to validate and improve analytical predictions incl. but not limited to forced response, HCF utilization, alarm limits, stimulus and flutter.
Apply test, field and manufacturing experience to improve methods and designs.
Design and analyze hot gas path components, e.g. blades, vanes, ring segments, for optimization of mechanical integrity and manufacturability.
Support integrated product teams as engine test engineer.
Guide integrated product teams through tough technical challenges.
Lead subprojects in the field of development.
Support manufacturing through initial qualification and subsequent production phases.
Support operation and field issues via design and root cause analyses.
Interface with customers both internal and external.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
University degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials engineering or similar.5+ years of experience in axial flow gas turbine design and hot gas path testing for structural and dynamic integrity.
EDAS, BVM-J, MBVM
APEX DX-Pro, GageMap
Siemens NX, ANSYS
Knowledge of computational methods and programming experience with application to structural analysis and design.
Demonstrated detail-oriented and innovative-thinking mindset.
Able to succeed in a global and dynamic integrated project team environment.
Must be highly motivated.
Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Must enjoy working with colleagues from different organizations and cultural backgrounds.
Requires 10% of travel.
Business fluent in English.
