Job Description:

Payroll Specialist

Position Overview:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for proactive collaboration with customer and key internal business partners. This role requires independent thinking and actions in handling the payroll processing. They must be flexible to pay any payroll, understand the pay practices of the payroll. Working knowledge of the union contracts and specific pay policies of the organizations being paid. Fluid knowledge of state legal requirements, pay regulations and overtime compliance. Ability to process tax adjustments, W-2s, W-2cs. Provide escalations for complex payroll transactions. Determine process improvement actions, develop plans and implement those actions across end to end methodology. This role will work in a team cohesively with around 30 team members. This role will report to the senior payroll manager.


This position is responsible for the preparation, review, and confirmation of payroll for the multiple Siemens Operating Companies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Apply documented rules, past practices, or instruction on an independent level.

  • Develop and maintain internal controls and processes

  • Effectively identify problems as they occur, complete root cause analysis, and successfully resolve.

  • Audit current payroll processes to identify areas of process improvements and standardization

  • Respond to standard and complex payroll related inquiries from customers or employees

  • Prepare and distribute various payroll reports and analyses to customers and management

  • Work in a team environment coordinating with other team members in the processing of payroll

  • Maintain compliance with all payroll related regulatory and Siemens requirements including effective internal controls

  • Participate/lead various projects including Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Complete understanding of all of the standard and some complex aspects of the payroll processes

Required Knowledge/Skills Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Proven proficiency in understanding payroll regulations, laws and processes.

  • CPP/FPC certification or equivalent is a plus.

  • Minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in payroll

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new things.

  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll knowledge and principles

  • Proficient computer, organizational, analytical, research and problem solving skills

  • Understanding of payroll processing within a shared services environment is a plus

  • Proficient computer, organizational, analytical, research and problem solving skills

  • Experience in investigating and resolving standard and some complex customer payroll issues

  • Compile and maintain appropriate payroll records, data and statistics for the calculation of payroll for multiple entities

  • Apply documented rules, past practices, or instruction on an independent level

  • Effectively identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to resolve

  • Maintain compliance with all payroll related regulatory and Siemens requirements including effective internal controls

  • Complete self-initiated training necessary to remain current on payroll practices relevant to the Siemens Operating Company supported
