Position Overview

Gas Turbine Engineering Design Lead: Heavy Gas Turbine Design

Responsibilities

  • Compressor, Rotor, Hot Gas Path and Stationary Large Forging Design of GE, Mitsubishi and Alstom Frames

  • Reverse Engineering Model Integration with Design Inputs

  • Definition of Engine Specific Boundary Conditions Required for Component Design

  • Defines Component Assembly and sub-assembly bill of materials

  • Leader of large, technically and geographically diverse design teams of professional and technical experts

  • Provides the detailed definition to components that meet the technical requirements of the sales / marketing team

  • Takes the responsibility for the realization of the component with the required functionality, prepares the design documentation.

  • Implementation of advanced manufacturing technology in Design Applications

*GT Component Design

*Component / Assembly Bill of Material Control

*Creating new solutions, experimenting with new ways to solve problems and seize opportunities.

*Establishing an action plan, translating strategic priorities into operational reality.

*Integrating the customer’s perspective when setting priorities and taking action.

Requirements

*Extensive knowledge and experience in Gas Turbine Design from concept to finish design including design practices and philosophies

*Working knowledge of design of compressors, rotors, turbine hot gas path parts and stationary large forgings

*Demonstrated ability to lead multiple large complex integrated product teams consisting of technical experts and core design experts.

*Complex Bill of Material Creation and Management for Components and Assemblies.

*Demonstrated ability to bring components and assemblies together within a defined range of stack-ups

*Demonstrated experience in utilizing statistical analysis methods surrounding component design

*Understanding of Lean / Six Sigma methodologies as they pertain to component design.

*Gas turbine component production and repair knowledge

*Materials concept knowledge

*Innovation driver

*Familiar with patent process and IP rights in general

*>10 years experience in gas turbine component design

*History / Experience in a large global OEM Gas Turbine Company

*Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline, mechanical / aeronautical preferred

*Gas turbine or aero-derivative training
