The chemical technician will be responsible for production work orders in the Complex Reagent production area with focus in the Conjugation and purifications of Proteins and Organics. These reagents impact all current Diagnostics Platforms: Dimension, Vista, LOCI, ADVIA, Syva, Centaur, EXL and SCS. Functions and responsibilities include:
Ø Conjugation reactions involving Proteins and organic coupling.
Ø Purification of Proteins such as antibody by HPLC and Column chromatography ( Size exclusion, Affinity and Ion-exchange).
Ø Bulk reagent formulation and Wet Chemistry at various scales.
Ø Manufacture of reagents used in immunodiagnostic assays.
Ø Handling and troubleshooting of HPLC, NGC, Spectrophotometer, pH meter, stir plate, Centrifuge, Pump and UV detector.
Ø Draft new documents as needed in support of process improvement and new product development activities.
Ø Document all such activities accurately in standard production worksheets as part of
Device History Record (DHR).
Ø Support continual improvements in multiple areas: procedure upgrades, process development, technical development.
Ø Maintain the area procedures as prescribed.
Ø Complying with all regulatory agency requirements.
Ø Maintain high efficiency in operations.
Ø Understand the basics of antibody-antigen interactions.
Ø Interact with R&D and other functional organizations as needed.
Major Functions and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have B.S degree in a relevant science (e.g. organic, analytical, biochemistry) and/or has experience in protein chemistry, HPLC, Column Chromatography. Required skills and experiences will include:
Ø Background with chemical reactions at various scales.
Ø Background in production processes relative to chemical and physical chemistry.
Ø Basic laboratory techniques used in a chemistry lab (pH, spectrophotometry, pipetting, handling of chemicals, etc.).
Other relevant skills and experiences may include:
Ø Knowledge of GMP regulations.
Ø Knowledge of GLP.
Ø Strong computer skills.
Ø Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ø Evidence of being a strong player in a team setting.
Ø Must be able to work independently, able to multi-task and prioritize.
Ø Must be a self-starter.
Ø Some SAP Training.
Ø Ability to work overtime and weekend as per business need.
Ø Ability to work longer hours inside the walking cold room.
Ø Ability to lift and move heavy containers (40-50lbs).
