Job Description:

Position Overview

Senior Product Engineer, MCAD Design for a Global New Product Development team.

Responsibilities

Create product design strategies to optimize material cost, supply risk and project timelines.

Lead cross functional design efforts and design initiatives from concept to implementation.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Demonstrated 7+ years of mechanical design experience in a regulated industry (FDA, ISO).

BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree may be substituted for experience.

Hands on experience in all forms of fabrication. (machining, sheet metal, injection molding, casting and rapid prototyping)

Experience working in a Technical Lab Environment. (hands on experience, understands work flow and safety requirements)

Firsthand experience in supplier relations. (has worked closely with fabrication vendors to secure quotations and component acceptance procedures)

Experience in developing Test Equipment and Procedures. (developer of complicated Testers and Devices)

Working knowledge with global manufacturing and related procedures. (participated in equipment installations and module builds at manufacturing sites)

Familiarity with manufacturing testing, quality control and design-for-test strategies

Familiarity with process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ)

Familiarity with stage gate product development

Experience in leading a team of mechanical designers whose experiences range from entry level to over twenty years.

Experience with developing integrated mechanical systems, comprised of OEM components, fabricated components, and wiring harnesses; equipment testing, and verification activities are desirable.

Ability to independently plan work and balance multiple priorities to meet design goals and customer requirements.

Ability to help solve complex electromechanical engineering design problems given verbal or written specifications.

Ability to effectively utilize the functionality of a three-dimensional CAD design tool, such as, Siemens PLM NX, Solid Works, or Creo Parametric (Pro-E) in order to produce engineering design solutions, which meet customer requirements.

Ability to apply the knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and industry standards, such as, ASME Y14.5 drafting practices, and GD&T methodology in order to produce fully-dimensioned engineering drawings which meet manufacturing requirements.

Ability to select the appropriate manufacturing process for various designs in order to produce cost-effective commercial equipment.

Ability to effectively communicate with manufacturing engineers, mechanical designers, shop-floor personnel, and fabrication suppliers.

Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Demonstrated mechanical design for testing applications

  • 2+ years of hands-on machining experience

  • Teamcenter, NX 8.5

  • SAP/PLM

  • Experience working with fabricated parts suppliers

  • Molding design

  • Electro-mechanical design
