The Senior Systems Engineer designs, defines and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. Candidates can be based out of New York, Pittsburgh, Louisville or even a home office!
•Design of Transit Systems, Wayside Systems and Grade Crossing Warning.
•Provide technical leadership on complex designs.
•Checks and validates hardware and software designs.
•Prepares proposals and estimates in accordance with customer specifications.
•Check complex designs for accuracy and compliance with customer and regulatory agency requirements
•Prepares and delivers technical customer presentations to customers and/or executive leadership.
•Perform hardware designs and application software design for complex projects.
•Develop and propose corrective actions for test procedures and test plans.
•Lead the technical support effort to the customer during commissioning of the design of complex systems.
•Verification of Wayside Train Control System software using tools specific to the type of equipment.
•Validation of Wayside Train Control System software; install software per hardware plans; test operation of software, record and analyze results; and provide feedback.
•Communicate project status with the Project Manager.
•Provide scheduled project updates relating to milestones and problem / high risk areas.
•Mentor and train junior engineers.
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
•5-10 years signal design experience
•Expertise in CAD and Microstation
•Expertise using industry specific equipment such as meters, oscilloscope and power supplies
•Expertise in the use of Test Racks
