Siemens Rail Automation is expanding it R&D operations and we're searching for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support our team of agile developers in Minnetonka, MN. In this role, you'll be working with C++ and Java to create viable quality technical solutions for back-office systems for our customers in the railroad industry. More detailed responsibilities for this exciting software design role include:
Here, you'll be part of a core team to work with interfaces and protocols as you develop our PTC (Positive Train Control) technologies. You will also need to perform system programming and automation tasks in a Linux environment.
Here's where you can show off your requirements and specification documentation skills in the morning while debugging in the afternoon! You will be contributing to the SW test requirements and draft estimates for complex modules under development.
You will be participating in reviews of customers' standards specification and other documentation to determine software engineering requirements and developing presentations of technical findings and developments. We will also be looking for you to work at customer sites to help them get started when our equipment is commissioned.
Qualifications for this position will include:
-BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
-A minimum of 5 years' experience developing software in C++ and Java (Standard Edition required; Swing is a big plus)
-Must have the ability to perform system programming and automation tasks in a Linux environment and worked in server based applications
-Must have experience with relational databases, interactive applications, industrial control platforms
-Must have experience with test-driven development. Ability to document requirements and specifications.
-Experience in UI development (JAVA FX, Swing, etc.) is a plus.
-Knowledgeable about analyzing and implementing protocols
Preferred qualifications we'd like, but aren't required:
· 3+ years SQL (Oracle is a plus) and Unix/Linux
· Creating Linux software packages (RPM and Debian)
· Worked with Railroad customers to develop requirements
· Is fluent with IBMs RTC environment
