Siemens PL is looking for highly qualified and motivated candidate to contribute to the development of our next-generation FE/CAE tool NX Nastran.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the architecture and design of the product as well as develop end-user enhancements. The specific area of focus will be the development of nonlinear solutions for the simulation software analysis of structures, acoustics, just to name a few. The Software Engineer Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager of the NX Nastran development group which is part of the Product Life Cycle Management 3D STS PD1 organization.
The primary function of this job is to manage a software development team. The focus of the team is to develop and enhance numerical subsystems for commercial finite element software; especially in the area of nonlinear structural analysis. The candidate would be responsible for the design, development, modification, and implementation of software programs for products (both internal and external) with focus on surpassing customer expectations, on achieving high quality and on-time delivery. Responsible for ensuring the overall functional quality of the released product on all required platforms and mechanism. Ability to understand complex products, solutions, and problems. Creates, documents, and executes software designs which may involve significant re-architecture of important systems, defining and coordinating implementation of wide-reaching impacts. Acts as Technical lead of projects that span multiple areas of a product. Broad and direct consulting with customers in regard to future upgrades and products. Sets the technical direction for one area of a product. Promotes innovation through the ability to introduce new technology/knowledge into multiple areas of a product and to our people. Able to solve the most complex of technical problems. Technical Lead in guiding junior engineers. Works without supervision on the most complex projects with complete latitude for independent judgment and technical expertise. Advanced knowledge of the field. Assist with less experienced peers.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
The following will be required of all candidates:
MS, PHD or equivalent degree in Mathematics, Civil, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Proven expertise in software design and development – 10 years
Experience in development and performance tuning of nonlinear structural solutions – 8 years
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team to meet project goals
Ability to lead of a team of development engineers to meet business objectives
Travel – 5%
