Position Overview:

TheAutomation-!nformatics Specialist(AIS)willprovidesupportforSiemensAutomationandMiddlewareSolutionsandberesponsibleforprovidingtheon-siteand remotesupportforsystemconfiguration,including pre-installation,installation,training,troubleshootingandpost-implementationsupport. The specific areas to be supported includeSiemensHealthcareDiagnosticsautomationtrack,datamanagementand networkconnectivitymiddlewareproducts(commonlyknownasInformatics).

The AISresponsibilities includeworking closely with onsite customers, SiemensHealthcareDiagnosticsfirstandsecondlevelemployees, and Siemensmanagement.TheAISmustrespondtothemostdifficult systemproblems,counselingchallengingcustomers that may not be familiar with automation concepts,as well as counselingTechnicalApplicationsSpecialists(TAS), FieldServiceEngineers andSalesRepresentatives,oncorrectiveandpreventativemeasures.The AISwillbeintegraltotheplanning ofaninstallation,instrumentsetup,trainingoflabpersonnel, to include workflow transition from batch or manual processing to an automated solution,andcreationoflearningtoolssuchasmaterials I troubleshootingguidesandstandardizationofoperatingprocedures.TheAISwilldemonstratetheleadershipandexpertisenecessarytotraindevelopandmentorTAS's. The AIS must have familiarity with laboratory and analyzer validation protocols, the ability to manage activities in parallel production and beta environments and the ability to troubleshoot issues through the evaluation of basic communication logs.

TheAISpositionis in the Mid Atlantic region andrequires access to a majorairportandwillserve asanationalresourcewho willberequired tosupportcustomersacrossNorthAmerica.Thismayrequireextensivetraveltomeettheneedsofourcustomersortheneedsoftheorganization.The ability to influence and negotiate solutions will be highly beneficial as the individualwillroutinelyinteractdirectlywithcustomersincludingLaboratoryManagers,Supervisors, andITAdministratorsaswellasexternalLISVendorsand3rdPartyMiddlewareCompanies

Responsibilities:

  • Performing pre-implementation activities including support of the sales processinvolvingmeetings and demonstrations,

  • participatingin pre-installation meetingswith customers to allow the successful integration of Siemens products and to discuss and establish readiness for Laboratory Automation &Information System that include:

  • interface communication,

  • network security and connectivity agreement

  • customer specificworkflow decisions that will determinesystem configuration activities (i.e., test setup, auto-verification, etc).

  • Performing implementation activities including:

  • system hardware and software installation,

  • network setup,

  • application configuration,

  • establishing connectivity forinstruments, the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Laboratory AutomationSystem (LAS),

  • performing verification and acceptance testing,

  • training of labpersonnel,

  • training and mentoring local Technical Application Specialists and FieldService Engineers,

  • reviewing learning materials/tools and troubleshooting guides,

  • helpingto establishstandardized operating procedures

  • and other relatedfirst levelfunctions associated.

  • Performingpost-implementationsupport activities (on-site and remote)for automation, middleware, and/or automation workflow including:

  • answering questions,

  • troubleshooting and solving problems,

  • following the SiemensHealthcare Diagnosticsescalation process to involve second and third level supportwhenappropriate,

  • performing post-installation configuration and validationactivities,

  • attending meetings/conference calls,

  • providingand facilitating training.Theproblemshandledare often unique to each specific customerinteraction with morecomplexproblems often requiring the engagement of external resourcesand/or upper management.The AIS will be vital in maintaining customer satisfaction with SiemensHealthcare Diagnosticsinformatics products and the performance of the integrated SiemensHealthcare Diagnostics products as a complete system.They will be responsiblefor identifying areas that need improvement, implementing preventative andcorrective action plans and complyingwith Siemens quality I regulatorypolicy.

RequiredKnowledge/Skills,Education,andExperience:

  • BS/BA degree, preferably in Medical Technology or networking, plus 3 years experience, or equivalentwork experience.

  • IT professional certifications are required: A+, N+, S+, MCSE.

  • Previousexperience in Middleware devices,PC knowledge, networking and interfaceprotocols,

  • Experience in a Hospital setting supporting Instrumentation and Laboratory Information Systems is preferred.

  • Familiarity with the followingsoftware is necessary for routine daily operations: Windows XP, Lotus Notes, Netscape, Internet Explorer,Microsoft Office SuiteĀ­ Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP, Acrobat, PC Anywhere Linux operating system, MySQL, as well as a comprehension of remote hosting

  • Strong complex problem solving skills and the ability to translate technical issues into non-technical terms.

  • Ability to handle multipletasks at one time, accept responsibility and prioritize withoutsignificant management intervention.

  • Professional attitude,comfortable working in a large corporatesetting populated with diverse types of people, maintain poise and a sense of humor in stressful situations, abilityto accept change.

  • An ability to interfaceat a highly technicallevel with assurance and confidence.

  • Laboratory experiencesuch as MT or MLTand training experience within a Healthcare environment is preferred.
