Siemens seeks Technical Accountant to become a leading contributor to its Technical Accounting Policy team. This person will be responsible for researching, documenting and implementing accounting positions and IFRS pronouncements. This person will work collaboratively with business units and across functional groups and HQ teams to understand business transactions and to form well-reasoned accounting judgments and conclusions. The person must demonstrate strong project management skills and theability to multi-task and prioritize.
Provide guidance in accordance to Siemens Financial Reporting Guidelines and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and communicate changes related to the Reporting and Accounting guidelines.
Acts as advisor to top management and business partners on advanced technical matters.
Collaborate with the business units and functional groups on a broad spectrum providing technical accounting support and oversight for significant and complex transactions in the area of Revenue Recognition (including Multiple Element Arrangement), M&A activities (such as Purchase Price Allocation, post-integration efforts and carve-our activities), Lease Accounting, Provisions, Intangibles.
Partnering with business units controllers to perform impact assessment of critical and innovative accounting proposals and advising them on the accounting outcome.
Draft accounting policies and white papers for new accounting pronouncements and ensure that existing policies reflect current accounting guidance.
Support monthly/quarterly reporting, SAP, ESPRIT (consolidation), ADSTAR (disclosure) andreview various account reconciliations.
Review and process complex entries in accordance with IFRS/GAAP requirements
Proficient in SAP and in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
Must display a high level of critical thinking, bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex and/or cross functional problems.
Proven analytical and problem solving abilities
Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.
Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills
Develops team members through mentoring and coaching in complex subjects
Degree in related discipline. CPA with 10+ years of public or public and industry (Fortune 500) accounting experience; preferably with a big-4 accounting firms with experience or exposure technical accounting groups. Financial reporting experience. Demonstrated ability to write well-reasoned position papers.
