The successful applicant will participate in and lead cross functional teams in developing and implementing EHS compliance and performance improvement programs for US and Canadian operations of Siemens Healthineers, to ensure continuing conformance with our global ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 certificate. This will include providing EHS support and governance services to a dispersed employee population (approximately8,100sales, service and logistics employees) that reside both at designated sites and those that work either from home or customer sites. This position is organizationally located within the Quality and Technology department of Siemens Medical Solutions USA, reports to the Sr. Director of EHS, and requires approximately 20% travel.
The EHS Specialist 4 position expectations include:
· Implements EHS compliance assessments and internal audits of Healthineers’ operations and third party suppliers, performance monitoring, and CAPA elements as part of the company’s ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 management system.
· Develops complex written programs to address government regulations (including OSHA, EPA, DOT and/or other regulatory agencies as necessary) and internal standards, fully addressing their implications to our business. Guides implementation by select sites and operations.
· Develops effective training programs in EHS policy and procedures, and guides completion by all affected Service, Sales, and ancillary personnel.
· Develops and maintains EHS performance reporting to meet regulatory/internal requirements and drive improvements.
· Develops and evaluates new processes/appropriations requests for multi-facility applications to meet company objectives.
· Independently performs advanced areas of work for the professional field.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
In order to meet the above responsibilities the following are required:
An individual with the ability to collaborate with others, at all levels from inside and outside of the organization, and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
Demonstrates and applies a comprehensive knowledge of EHS management principles to identify and resolve regulatory and performance issues.
Applies advanced skills to independently resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices.
Provide specialized guidance or train support and/or professional staff. Leadership qualities and role model qualities demonstrated.
Good verbal and written skills in order to convey the technical elements of assigned tasks to others inside and outside of the organization.
Familiarity in using common computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs
Education & Experience:
BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree.
Prior experience with ISO 14001 & OSHAS 18001 EHS management systems required, including both compliance assessments and internal audits. Lead EHS MS auditor certification a plus.
Prior experience authoring standard operating procedures and effective training programs for adult learners.
Typically 8-10 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
