Req ID: 388924

At Siemens Mobility, we sustainably craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads rely on us to provide traction-power substations, electricity transmission, and signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems. We are your place to thrive, challenge the status quo, make a difference, and grow in a diverse team of innovators who share your passion for technology - are you in?

Our RAMS Managers are passionate about Functional Safety and enjoy working with designers to deliver safe solutions to meet customer needs. We incorporate RAMS management throughout the entire product development lifecycle - from a use case definition, RAMS planning over requirement clarification, design, software development, hardware development, test, validation, field test, pilot projects, product qualification, and safety case to independent safety evaluations. This role will primarily focus on safety-related internal/external partner management, so anticipate routine engagement with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), customer contacts, internal Project team, and global RAMS colleagues (Germany/Spain).

You'll make a difference by:

  • Establishing system requirements concerning reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety using customer requirements and FRA guidelines.

  • Preparing and implementing project safety plans in line with our standards and practices. Also, ensure that vital documents (hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, safety cases, etc.) are available for approval.

  • Acting as the intermediary between the project and approval authority; support project execution by coordinating requirements with the Project Manager, Systems Engineers, Independent Safety Assessors, Suppliers, and Customers

  • Performing RAM and Safety Analyses, FMEA, and FTA to identify system and operation faults.

  • Ensuring process consistency throughout the SDLC within the scope of responsibility.

  • Independently leading the system safety and reliability elements of sophisticated technical projects.

You're excited to build on your existing expertise, including:

  • BSc. / MSc. In Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, or a similar field

  • Validated experience as a RAMS Engineer or RAMS Manager for complex and safety-critical Railroad, Nuclear Plant, Aerospace, Automotive systems, or other regulated industries.

  • Firm understanding of ITC-PTC and the Rail Safety Improvement Act

  • Knowledge and expertise of the Safety Assurance Concepts per IEEE-1483 and ability to guide safety-critical software development per EN50128

  • Validated on-the-job experience with the following techniques: FMECA, FTA, PHA, Hazard Logs, and Interface Hazard Analysis (EN50159)

  • Hands-on knowledge of CENELEC (EN50126, EN50128, and EN50129)

While we appreciate all applications we receive, we advise that only candidates under consideration will be contacted.
