Job Description:

Position Overview

In this role, you will write user documentation for Siemens Molecular Imaging PET/CT systems. You will be the primary writer of PET/CT content and will also have a key role in scheduling documentation work and reporting its status to various project teams.

The deliverables you produce are critical and required components of our PET/CT systems, and we cannot go to market without them. Subsequently, you must be able to set objectives and to meet milestones under deadline.

You will be part of the MI User Documentation and Translation team and report to the Director of that team. Although focused on PET/CT content, this position will also include opportunities to work on documentation for SPECT/CT and syngo .via products.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Create the operating manuals and online help for MI’s PET/CT systems. This includes both hardware and software

  • Coordinate with the CT business line to ensure the delivery of the appropriate MI-specific CT documentation

  • Attend and deliver documentation status at the Project Steering Group meetings

  • Create or modify screenshots and graphics as required

  • Work with team members and our Translation Coordinator to create packages that will be sent to external translators. Monitor translation status and deadlines, and troubleshoot issues as required

  • Coordinate with external writers to deliver third-party documentation

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

The following knowledge/skills, education, and experiences are required to be considered for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, communications, health sciences, or related field

  • Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Responsibilities as presented above

  • Ability to work closely with colleagues in different locations such as Germany, China, or India is mandatory

  • Flexibility to occasionally work early or late to accommodate deadlines and other time zones is routine

  • Must be comfortable learning and occasionally troubleshooting new software tools

  • Must be comfortable engaging with subject matter experts in order to transfer knowledge from them to our customers

  • Must be comfortable working in hot cell control rooms

  • Demonstrated competence with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Position requires an estimated 5% travel that could be domestic or international

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

The following knowledge/skills, education, and experiences are not required but would be extremely helpful to be considered for this position:

  • Experience with or knowledge of Nuclear Medicine is highly desirable

  • Experience with XML-based content management systems such as Astoria, Documentum, Author-IT, or Cosima is highly desirable

  • Any familiarity with translation process and tools, translation memory tools, or terminology management tools would be beneficial

  • Demonstrated competence with image editing software such as Photoshop, Gimp, and Illustrator

  • Experience with page layout programs such as InDesign or QuarkXPress
