Job Description:

Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics currently has an opportunity for a Senior Level Electrical Systems Engineer, preferably with a BSEE undergraduate degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

The successful candidate must have a proven track record in the electrical engineering field, specifically with complex integrated systems. This position requires a minimum of eight years of experience and proficiency covering the following areas:

Required Skills.

Must Have:

U.S. and international safety codes and regulations with specific experience in the application of NFPA 70, NFPA79 and UL 60950

Enclosure design in accordance with UL 508A

Power distribution systems including DC and poly-phase AC systems

Selection and application of machine safety systems

Motor controls including dynamic braking of induction motors and servo applications

Sensor selection

ESD and EMI principles and system grounding concepts

Creation of detailed, accurate technical data packages including schematics, assembly drawings and bills of material

Proficiency in the use AutoCAD

Effective verbal and written communications skills which include proficiency with Microsoft Word generating clear and concise specifications

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

PLC programming

Cable/harness design, experience with UG NX3 Routing is a plus

Definition of product structures that support high volume manufacturing

Experience with product structure, generation / management of structured Bills of Materials (BOM) and the use of enterprise business management tools such as SAP.

Proficiency in the use of M.S. Project

Creation of detailed manpower and material estimates for new projects

Job Family Responsibilities:

Develops the design of very complex systems that integrate hardware and software. Develops very complex material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up. Develops recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction. Guides very complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.

Education:BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas

Knowledge and Experience. Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues. Typically 8-10 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable. Direction of Others. Provide specialized guidance or train support and/or professional staff. Leadership qualities and role model qualities demonstrated. Key Working Relationships. Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
