The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will play a key role in the Siemens US. Wind nacelle manufacturing facility in Hutchinson, KS. As part of the senior plant management team, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will ensure quality and safety in production operations for the plant. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to lead and influence how we provide quality manufacturing operations in the Wind business. They must have a strong desire to participate in a new, exciting, and growing industry and be able to turn ambiguous situations into best practices. They must also work to inspire and motivate a staff of technical, quality and safety experts in a challenging new role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position will report to the Plant Manager.

  • Ensure the operational excellence of the assembly process for different production lines

  • Develop and implement new assembly process focusing on cost reduction and efficiency increase

  • Responsible for the tooling department, focusing on design and implementation of new tools/equipment

  • Responsible for the technical writing team with focus on work instructions and other technical documents for the shopfloor

  • Make sure that all operations is sustained by a strong and updated Standard Work Instruction

  • Hiring support staff in addition to training and development.

  • Enforcing Siemens policies and procedures.

  • Ensuring compliance with all federal and state safety guidelines.

  • Work with HR Manager to guide effort to ensure non-union operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • The successful candidate will have a strong manufacturing and operations background and supervisory experience.

  • 8-10+ years directly related experience required.

  • Ability to lead and motivate Manufacturing Supervisors.

  • Experience in managing skilled/unskilled workers.

  • Experience with deal with clients and sub-contractors.

  • Strong technical acumen.

  • Technical/practical education or mechanical/constructional experience

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.

  • Understanding of the work processes in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Knowledge of wind turbines preferred but not required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and related software.
