We seek an experienced Senior Software (SW) Product Manager (“Product Manager”) for our flagship PSS®E product to play a key role in the continued success of Siemens Power Technologies International, (PTI).
This senior level position requires deep technical knowledge, both of the PTI Software Solutions portfolio, as well as our customer’s enterprise (work-flow) and how the PTI portfolio fits/integrates with other customer applications and systems.
The Product Manager will drive the develop the solution in conjunction with other PTI Product Managers, Project Managers, Engineers and Business Development Managers, as well as third-party hardware and software providers to design an industry leading solution that meets the specific customer requirements. The Product Manager, together with the Head of Product Management will also coordinate with Siemens Finance and Legal, managing the profit and risk associated with what is being proposed for implementation.
Additionally, the Product Manager will be responsible for coordinating and generating the Request for Proposal (RFP) response, working closely with technical writers and the proposal team.
The Product Manager is frequently a customer facing role that requires the skill set and personality necessary for lengthy customer interaction, demonstrations, defending the proposed solution and ultimately performing the technical due-diligence on the proposed solution.
Design and manage an advanced and complex Power System Simulation SW product, solution(s) and/or service(s) assigned, including definition of user and functional requirements, growth & profit strategies, business planning, and road map.
Leads the most complex analysis of relevant competitors' product(s), solution(s) and/or service(s), which requires solid power engineering background.
Designs the complex product marketing strategies (product/solution/service, price, placement, promotion).
Leads the establishment and management/synchronization of a cross functional and multi-location team to realize the development of the product(s), solution(s) and/or service(s) assigned.
Leads the business performance of the product(s), solution(s) and/or service(s) assigned over the whole product lifecycle in cooperation with all internal partners.
Lead Requirements Engineering to ensure properly documented specifications for base enhancements and/or customized solutions
Review function requirements with Functional Product Managers to ensure universal understanding and agreement to optimize re-use capabilities.
Monitor and ensure conformance to the established functional requirements during implementation stage
Support SW solution deployment through its entire lifecycle
Enable reuse of existing functionality across the PTI SW product portfolio
Actively collaborate with internal stakeholders including developers, testers, engineers, managers and sales people to meet product release and/or project schedules
Actively collaborate with external stakeholders such as customers and industry experts for first-hand involvement in industry challenges, trends and emerging technologies
Advise management on business decisions with long-term strategic impact (including product roadmaps)
Qualifications & Expectations:
5 to 8 years of successful experience in engineering or software development in the realm of power engineering and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of the Electric Utility field of specialization to the successful completion of very complex tasks and internal network model management and network planning processes. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in software development, enterprise integration and cyber-security. Demonstrates significant knowledge of essential business practices and issues faced in proposal development and project delivery, and can positively contribute to problem resolution of these issues.
Ability to perform multi-task functions in an environment of extreme time constraints, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively work with a wide variety of customers (domestic and foreign). Requires leadership characteristics evidenced by clear and concise communications (verbal and written), a positive attitude. Must be a self-starter.
Broad knowledge of power system planning and operation, system interactions in the planning and operational space, and competitor products.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Electrical (Power Systems) Engineering with academic courses exposure in Electric Energy Grid operations and several years of relevant experience is required, or Masters or PHD degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
