We are looking for a Risk Management Consulting Specialist with a strong background in the energy industry. Our team seeks someone with expertise in portfolio management, implementing hedging strategies, and trading or procuring power, gas, and renewable energy credits. The Risk Management Consulting Specialist will be proficient in standard methodologies for risk assessment and crafting risk programs.

This is a remote position in the U.S.

You’ll make an impact as you:

  • Guide clients managing portfolios of physical and contractual energy assets.

  • Develop hedging strategies to manage energy price risks and advise clients on their execution.

  • Coordinate the procurement of power, gas, and renewable energy credits to help clients manage their budgets and/or meet Renewable Portfolio Standards goals.

  • Conduct risk assessments and design comprehensive risk management programs for industry and especially utility clients.

  • Mentor and guide junior consultants and be an inspiring leader in the field of risk management.

  • Maintain and expand strong industry contacts to facilitate business development.

  • Drive sales of risk management engagements and contribute to the growth of the company.

  • Stay abreast of trends, regulatory changes, and industry standards in energy risk management.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or a more advanced degree in engineering, economics, finance, statistics, physics, or mathematics required.

  • 8 years of experience in energy trading, financing of energy assets, wholesale electricity market operation, or utility regulation.

  • 4 years of experience in portfolio or risk management within the energy industry, including proven experience designing and implementing hedging strategies and trading energy commodities.

  • Proven experience with various risk assessment methodologies such as assessing the Value at Risk (VaR) or Conditional VaR of portfolios of physical and contractual assets, among others.

  • Experience with Risk Assessment program design.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time as needed.

  • Ability to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience driving sales and winning projects through a strong network and deep industry experience in energy trading.

  • Experience in strategic planning, transactional support, market analysis, and regulatory guidance for a wide range of stakeholders in the energy sector, including electric and gas utilities, regulators, and end-users.

  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior consultants.

  • The salary range for this position is $98,980 - $203,640. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
