Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility - Rail Infrastructure is adding to the team an experienced Quality professional looking for a new opportunity as a Product Quality Engineer (Product QMIP) In this role, the right candidate will improve quality in products for train onboard and trackside safety equipment used in passenger rail applications.

You will lead resolution of quality issues reported by customers, factories, or suppliers and collaboratively work with cross functional teams to determine root cause(s) and define containment, short-term and long-term corrective actions. Additionally, you will analyze warranty non-conformance costs for trends and opportunities to drive continuous improvement of products and processes.

This role interacts with systems engineering, product development, procurement, manufacturing, as members of cross-functional teams. Travel to suppliers or other Siemens RI Factories may be required (10-20% in the US).

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead 8D or other root cause methods for product and warranty issues to determine root cause and corrective measures.

  • Collaborate with Engineering for investigations and change implementation.

  • Proactive efforts to prevent issues by routinely participating in design reviews and evaluating drawing and BOM changes.

  • Coordinate activities with Supplier Quality Engineers for any supplier related quality issues.

  • Measure effectiveness through managing warranty KPI with target of year-over-year reductions.

  • Support the identification, initiation, and coordination of continuous improvement activities that lead to improved quality of product, design to manufacturability, and design for serviceability.

  • Facilitate training on quality topics and problem-solving methods.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • BS Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or equivalent technical field.

  • 5+ years experience with quality methods and problem solving

  • Experience with quality methods and problem-solving methods.

  • Ability to facilitate cross functional teams to action or solution.

  • Experience with Key Performance Indicators, routine reporting, and actions to drive improvement.

  • Technical design experience or aptitude for electro-mechanical hardware and software systems

The base salary range for this position in Homestead, PA is $107,500 - $145,000. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications. The annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary.
