Performs complex maintenance, enhancement, testing and support of existing hardware. Completes complex design, development, testing, and modification of hardware. Performs the quality process by the rigorous and detailed execution of module, sub-system and system test procedures. Performs designing, developing, and implementing complex hardware solutions while adhering to manufacturing capabilities. Completes all engineering documentation to support a design effort. Completes estimates for complex task duration, supporting the process for developing and maintaining schedules, cost and quality. May complete complex technical writings. Completes review of complex specifications and other documentation to determine hardware engineering requirements

Job Description:

The Advanced Therapy (AT) division of Siemens Healthineers is looking for a motivated, accountable, technically strong individual to join our Cardiology Solutions department as a Senior Digital Hardware Engineer at our Hoffman Estates, IL facility. This department develops hemodynamic and electrophysiological recording systems as well as billing and reporting tools for the Cardiac Catheterization lab. Position Description: The Senior Digital Hardware Engineer will be part of team responsible for all aspects of our custom hardware solution, including new development, sustaining, manufacturing and field support. Their expertise and focus would be in digital subsystem and card design utilizing the latest FPGA technologies from major vendors including Xilinx, Altera. Additionally strong knowledge and experience with high speed interfaces, DSPs, controls, data links, and embedded processers. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hardware Design Specification– Write and review design specifications for new product features

  • Hardware Prototyping– Design and developprototypes to evaluate new technology and assess feasibility

  • Hardware Development– Design, implement,review and test electrical medical equipment

  • Hardware Testing– Conduct and evaluateaccelerated lifecycle testing to ensure our high quality standards

  • Innovation– Follow trends in themarket and evaluate applicability to our medical products

  • Requirement Reviews– Participate inreviews and work with Systems Engineering to ensure proper implementationof features

  • Peer Reviews– Conduct andparticipate in peer reviews to ensure product quality

  • Leadership– Provide technicalteam leadership to a small group of engineers.


  • BS in ElectricalEngineering or related field required. Masters degree a plus

  • 5+ years of electronichardware development experience preferably in a medical device or otherregulated environment

  • Strong digital signalprocessing design experience

  • Solid understanding ofRTL (VHDL, Verilog/System Verilog)

  • Design experience withelectronic systems using digital logic (micro-controllers, ASICs, PLDs,FPGAs, etc.)

  • Knowledge of PCI, PCIe,USB standards beneficial

  • Proven leadershipabilities

  • Some C, C++, Windowsprogramming experience, a plus

  • Windows driverprogramming experience, a plus

  • Experience withworld-wide safety, susceptibility, and EMI requirements (UL1262, IEC60601, CSA, CE Mark)

  • Excellentinterpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Produce excellentresults with minimal supervision

  • Strong qualityorientation and customer focus

  • Ability to traveldomestic and international working with our OEM partners (5%)
