Siemens Grand Prairie is growing and looking for strong Engineers to join their team.
Siemens Grand Prairie, TX is looking to add a Product Development Engineer to their team. This person supports the semi-complex planning of detailed product development objectives. Participates in the preparation of semi-complex sketches, design layouts, and other specifications. Provides support in semi-complex review of results to determine that products perform in the intended manner. Participates in preparing semi-complex prototypes for testing and provides technical assistance on design feasibility. Assists in standardizing semi-complex materials, components and assemblies. Participates in maintaining detailed and comprehensive records of all inventive ideas, designs, and basic improvements. Provides support in documenting product issues for future reference and problem resolution.
•Design low voltage electrical equipment (Panelboards and Switchboards) using Pro-E / Creo. AutoCAD needed on a limited basis.
•Lead new product development projects
•Lead “Design-to-Cost” projects to reduce manufacturing and material costs
•Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (structural) using Pro-Mechanica to determine structural factor of safety of designed parts
•Perform thermal testing of designs to ensure products meet UL criteria
Perform short circuit testing of designs to ensure products meet UL criteria
•Create Material Masters, Material BOMs, Custom Order BOMs, Document Information Records and Change numbers using SAP
•Serve as lead engineer for processing Engineering change requests and Engineering Deviations
•Responsible for designing custom order specific Panelboards and Switchboard samples in Pro-E, and for processing these through SAP
•Provide technical support for the manufacturing of custom and standard parts in the shop floor
•Serve as Technical Expert and interface with Customers as needed for product support
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:
•Minimum of 5 years experience (including 2 years product development, preferred)
•Minimum of 2 years of Pro-E / Creo (or SolidWorks, UG NX)
•Strong working knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM), FEA (structural), and concept testing.
•BSME or BSEE
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:
•Electrical equipment design
•MSME or MSEE
•Minimum of 2 years Project Mgt experience
•Configurable / Modular design methodology
•Thermal analysis (CFD) of completed Pro-E models using Cfdesign (or other) to ensure products meet UL heat rise criteria
