Job Description:

Overview:

Siemens Infrastructures and Cities is looking for a Senior Application Support Specialist for their Florham Park, NJ location. This person provides comprehensive technical support for the company's hardware and associated software to sales outlets and others as appropriate. This task takes the form of telephone support using technical manuals and other documentation as well as lab simulation/diagnosis and site visits.

Responsibilities:

Assists sales outlets and licensed end users with the installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all company products (i.e. via telephone, email and fax). Enters call information into the Technical Support problem management database. Frequently interacts with other departments and coordinates the efforts of those departments to satisfy customer inquiries. Provides source data for publication of updated technical information to various sales outlets through the use of technical manuals and other documentation. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all company products and electronics/software developments. Assists in the simulation, testing and diagnosis of reported field problems. Make site visits as necessary to analyze field problems and assist in their resolution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Educational Requirements:

  1. Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent technical training.

  2. 6 Yrs of Field service and/or engineering experience in the fire alarm or related industry and 3 years experience in a technical support or help desk position.

  3. Working knowledge of National Fire Alarm codes/standards and major listing agency requirements.

  4. Experience with the troubleshooting of data communications systems, LANs, WANs, RS-232, RS-485.

  5. Working knowledge of PC environments including DOS, Windows and OS/2.

  6. Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications.

  7. Ability to travel 25%-30% of the time; domestically and internationally.

Not required but would be a plus:

  1. Training certification in all current Siemens, Fire Safety equipment and systems preferred.
