Job Description:

Position Overview

As a member of Siemens Fire Safety R&D, you can develop the technology that protects lives.We are looking for a professional embedded hardware/firmware engineer to execute complete embedded development lifecycles. As a leading provider of fire safety systems, Siemens Industry, Inc., makes buildings safe through the development of fire detection and evacuation systems. This position reports to the Manager of the Hardware and Regulatory Group in Florham Park, NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, and implements new products and supports existing products for the fire alarm market

  • Independently and under the guidance of a more senior level engineer, designs and implements hardware and/or firmware for microprocessor based products and PC based products

-Plans and conducts projects of medium complexity, independently and under general supervision, and participates in major projects. This may include organizing, delegating, and reviewing the work of more junior level engineers

-Recommends changes in procedure, design or equipment where necessary

-Tracks and reviews project status with management

-Coordinates the activities of lower level engineers, technicians, technical writers, and PCB designers to bring the project to successful completion

  • Occasionally travels to field locations by plane or car (5%) to troubleshoot product problems.

-Participats in the development of test strategies for devices and systems

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field.

-5+ years Product Firmware and Hardware Development experience.

-Experience working with manufacturing engineers and design engineers in support of existing products and the start up of new products.

-Design experience in C, C++, real time embedded systems, in circuit emulation and debugging.

-Experience using PC for reports, data analysis, and project scheduling.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics.

-Experience designing and testing to UL standards.
