Job Description:

Position Overview

The candidate analyzes conceptual or detailed job designs and specifications and provides cost estimates for material and labor to be sourced externally for building automation (HVAC), fire safety, and security electrical installation. In addition the candidate will collaborate with procurement, sales, operations, engineering and at times with customers to understand and/or develop the scope of work that will be awarded.


•Execute electrical installation estimates from customer drawings, conceptual designs or project walk through

•Identify risk areas in the project installation design or project specifications to sales and/ or operations

•Confer with local procurement manager, sales person and/ or operations on project cost and risk to assist in sourcing strategy development and execution

•Assist sales person or project manager with development of RFP for electrical subcontractors

•Negotiate project installation cost with subcontractors based on scope and risk

•Develop new electrical contractors for installation of Siemens Building Technologies projects

•Build working relationships with the electrical contractors engaged in Siemens Building Technologies installations

•Communicate with local procurement manager(s) to discuss project sourcing opportunities for material identified outside of electrical estimating

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

•Minimum of 8 years of estimating experience in the electrical installation industry, including significant experience estimating labor and material for building automation, fire safety, or security system controls

•Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and local municipality codes

•Understand cost drivers associated to electrical installation

•Experience using Accubid estimating software

•Strong computer skills are required, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

•Ability to speak in front of groups

•Cross functional/organizational team management and facilitation skills (internal and external)

•Travel within area of responsibility (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware) 30% - 40%

•Travel outside of area of responsibility 2% - 3%
