Job Description:

Position Overview

Siemens Mobility is currently seeking a Project Procurement Specialist to integrate Procurement in the project management and train maintenance process and project teams at an early stage as well as during the entire project duration. This individual will organize, control and monitor all Procurement activities in a project(s) and introduce Procurement strategies targeting maximum contribution to the operating result. This position will work with our Locomotive (LOCO) Service, Mobility Customer Service (CS) team to support the bid process and /or active projects and be based in either Sacramento or Chicago, in support of our Amtrak, SEPTA, MUST, and All Aboard Florida customers.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for coordination, implementation and communication of project procurement strategy and activities.

  • Identifies and guides supply base risk, opportunities and market forces to avoid potential damage / exploit potential opportunities; solves project specific procurement challenges.

  • Performs procurement activities in alignment with project management prioritization and requirement.

  • Defines, tracks and reports on scheduling, risk, change, opportunities and resource management

  • Ensures that all projects meet material delivery requirements

  • Ensures that all projects meet Disadvantaged Business Enterprises requirements

  • Responsible for coordination, implementation and communication of project procurement strategy and activities

  • Works with cross-functional business partners as well as SCM network

  • Ensures that the project scope and terms are addressed in the vendor's contract

  • Track the vendor's progress against the original and/or revised schedule

  • Fully responsible for the execution and delivery of Projects material & Services

  • Supports contractual and price negotiations which are lead by our Mobility CS, Strategic Procurement Team out of Sacramento.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years relevant work experience in Strategic Procurement or Project Management

  • Team leadership & management skills

  • Travel as required for the position, up to 15% is not uncommon

  • Project management skills

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s preferred

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • BS/BA preferred

  • Knowledge of Rail Maintenance of LOCOS and Coach Cars from a Full Maintenance perspective.
