Specific Responsibilities

Responsible for contributing to the development, implementation, guidance and communication of the Medical Affairs strategy and activities for the LD product focus. Contribute to a cross-functional medical strategy aligned with other internal key partners including Quality and Technology, Assay Development, Manufacturing, Global Account Management, Marketing and Global Product Support.

Serve as consultant to:

  • Product Development Core Team(s) to provide medical input for changes or improvements to existing products as well as the development of new products in the context of clinical acceptance and applications of standard care and state-of-the-art clinical use.

  • Product Health Team(s) to provide medical input in product health issues and guide prioritization of resources in context of medical prioritization regarding pre- and post-market surveillance activities.

  • Regulatory – Assay Development (AD) Validation (Clinical trials/Studies group in Assay Development) in the design and execution of efficient and robust registration strategies. Identify, advise and guide critical verification and validation activities to ensure the safety and effectiveness of products.

  • Global product support teams regarding product safety and effectiveness in laboratory medicine. Recognize and drive to resolution product issues as warranted.

  • Scientific marketing to ensure medical messaging is truthful, non-misleading, clear, validated and aligned with the organizations strategic positioning of Siemens LD as the leader in diagnostics.

  • Strategic partners and key opinion leaders in product development and continued support through the product life cycle.

  • Regional and national key accounts as strategically needed.Reports directly to the Global Vice President and Head of Medical, Statistical, and Scientific Affairs. Key Job Attributes A. Conceptualizes and directs the testing or investigations pertaining to the development of the most complex new designs, methods, materials, or processes and investigates possible application of results.2. Directs the analysis, evaluation and planning for the most complex methods of approach, and organizes means to achieve the solution to problems.3. Directs the evaluation of test data and results of the most complex investigationand develops appropriate recommendations.4. Conceptualizes and directs the development of reports, charts, graphs, and other documents and makes recommendations.5. Conceptualizes a variety of the most complex products, processes, and components.6. Directs the review and approves related inputs such as the most complex specifications prepared by technical support personnel.7. Directs the coordination of LD AD support to arrange for the production ofthe most complex experimental runs or for the construction of experimental models. B. Critical Problem Thinking: 1. Performs special assignments and provides technical and clinical advice in area of expertise.2. Preempts potential problems via post-market surveillance and provides effective strategies and solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes.3. Displays an expert level of critical thinking in applying principles, theories, and concepts on a wide range of medical or scientific problems. C. Education: M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in related areas. Practical experience in clinical pathology preferred. Board certification and ongoing accreditation by nationally and internationally known professional clinical and academic bodies such as ABCC, CACB, RCP, ABP required. E. Experience: 1. Typically 3 to 5 years of successful experience in related field. #LI-LP1
