Job Description:

This Manager position is in the Walpole Commercial Product Support (CPS- R&D) Department supporting Centaur and Atellica reagent/assay product lines

Scope of work:

  • Typically supervises 3 or more employees

  • Develops coaching skills to aid in supervision

  • Team member for an assay/system design change and improvement project

  • Ability to write design review documentation for product/project milestones

  • Conceives and completes complex research, analysis, and experimentation for product and process development of immunoassays.

  • Performs assay verification/validation and complex tests following written protocols.

  • Obtains, correlates, and analyzes computer generated validation documents needed to accomplish complex technical assignments.

  • Completes the design changes for a variety of products, processes, and components.

  • May complete the investigation of the performance of raw materials to use in the manufacture process of the product.

  • May review and investigate processes involved in the manufacture and quality control of the immunoassay or automated instrumentation under investigation.

  • May investigate the performance of new or re-formulated immunoassays and may analyze market readiness; may coordinate the full implementation of validated assays.

  • Completes the design of experiments for product and process trouble-shooting and improvements.

  • Presents data at peer reviews/design reviews

  • Coordinates and carries out investigations and implements corrective and preventive actions.

  • Serves on CRB as an R&D representative

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Typical Education: Advanced degree beyond BS in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry

  • Typical Job Related Experience: 6+ Years in Diagnostics or Related R&D or Technical Operations

  • Must have a good understanding and knowledge of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies and principles of immunodiagnostic technology, as well as experience with diagnostic immunoassays.

  • Understanding of Design Controls for Medical Device

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

  • Must have a strong work ethic and be highly motivated to work independently with high energy.

  • Must have excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work as a team leader.

  • Must be flexible and demonstrate the ability to switch priorities to meet business needs.

Desired Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Education: PhD degree preferred

  • Protein biochemistry and chromatography knowledge and experience

  • A strong background and experience with automated immunoassay analyzers and/or ELISA and chemiluminescent technology, as well as, proficiency with Microsoft Office, Minitab
