Background:

This position plays a vital role in protecting a key asset of Siemens Healthineers: the Master Data that enables our company to share information, process business transactions, as well as plan and execute operations globally. Siemens Healthineers’ is actively investing in and is strongly committed to improving Governance and quality of Master Data in our SAP-based ERP systems.

This position will report directly to the Data Governance organization on the business side. This is not an IT position but does require some technical skills as well as deep knowledge of SAP products. Responsibilities will include oversight and support of business processes and Master Data Governance (MDG) workflow tools. A major goal is to minimize turnaround time in the setup of new material numbers to ensure business ready data and strict adherence to medical device regulations.

Leveraging information systems and digitalization of processes is critical to the work of leading organizations. The challenge is to produce high-quality business ready data and keep it that way. We are addressing this head on by devising organizational structures, tools, methods and processes that contribute to the production of better information which can positively impact business results by enabling enhanced decision making, reducing operational friction as well as ensuring regulatory compliance. MDG workflow support activities include 1st level triage and 2nd level escalation for Material/Product Master Data as well as related business processes interacting with the data

Data Governance has a mandate to ensure stakeholders have the tools necessary to establish Material Master Data and the knowledge necessary to maintain it. Data needs to be complete, accurate and kept clean by measuring data quality and holding data producers accountable for the quality of their data.

Job Specific Requirements:

A high percentage of the work will be spent supporting the business as they launch new products and extend existing materials to additional markets. The position will drive remediation efforts, and perform activities ensure availibity of business ready data. It will involve process training for end users, Material Master completeness analysis, technical support of existing Master Data Governance (MDG) tools, and support for business escalations during critical product development milestones and product launches. It will also involve working in-person and virtually with a wide range of data stakeholders, owners, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in a time sensitive environment. Legacy processes and organizational structures provide for a challenging (yet opportunity ripe) multi-system environment which must first be understood through research and dialog with key business stakeholders.

The position will work in a small team focused on various aspects of Data Governance e.g. developing intelligent workflow tools for the orchestration of data setup and maintenance. It’s expected that this position will cross-train and participate fully in departmental work coverage. Being able to work in virtual as well as global teams is a prerequisite to success in this role. The person must exhibit a common sense approach with a supportive, patient and guiding attitude. They must know when to request further resources and / or management support and be equally capable of being firm and directive where necessary to avoid any compromise on data quality. Activities will include responding to escalations to analyze and help resolve data problems which may be causing down-stream transactional issues. Such requests may often be time critical in nature and involve a keen sense of urgency coupled with time management / prioritization skills. Reports will be used to proactively approach the business and avoid delinquency in workflow steps, trend workflow statistics to prepare for management review and identify MDG workflow process improvement opportunities. The position will work with other team members to ensure that procedures and training documentation are continuously improved and that communication is optimized to our user support base.

The position will report directly to the Senior Manager, Business Process Engineering in the Data Governance organization. This on-site position will be based at our Walpole, Massachusetts site in the USA. Alternate US Siemens Healthineers locations may be considered for exceptional candidates. While site-based, the position may need to travel up to 10% mostly in the USA with some limited international travel expected.

Skills / Experience:

  1. Extensive experience supporting and training end-users in-person and in virtual environments.

  2. Technical and/or super user support experience with SAP functional modules and their inter-relationships with Material Master Data: SD (essential), MM (good working knowledge), PP, QM, WM, IM, CS (not essential but helpful).

  3. Direct experience with SAP Material Master Data maintenance

  4. Experience with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) or equivalent master data management tools and methods preferred

  5. Derives job satisfaction from measuring and comparing things. Wants to understand why and doesn’t give up until answers are found. Demonstrates a high level of ‘iQ’ appreciation (Information Quality!).

  6. Shows a passion for making sure that data-fueled processes work and don’t break because of incomplete or incorrect data.

  7. Is familiar with the application of problem solving techniques to get to root cause.

  8. Demonstrates a hands-on approach to fixing problem data and is able to coach others to do the same as we support our network of Data Stewards and Data Operators.

  9. Passionate about end-to-end processes and experienced with data use in a supply chain / logistics or manufacturing environment. Experience with both and in medical or similarly regulated industry a plus.

  10. Proven ability to document processes and design user manuals / procedures.

  11. Accuracy, Precision and ability to efficiently error-check large amounts of data is essential.

  12. Strong ability to understand process-driven Material Master Data requirements, complex logistics criteria as well as process logic to ensure Material Master Data will produce desired results e.g. to ensure smooth business activities (buying, selling, servicing, billing)

  13. Understanding of SAP customization concepts and were to find these documented in the SAP system.

  14. Advanced Microsoft Excel and SharePoint proficiency.

Organization and Communication Skills:

  1. Sound data analysis and manipulation skills are required but equally important is having a critical eye i.e. must have the social ability and tenacity to ask questions until the topic is fully understood and ask again (or even escalate) if answers provided don’t make sense.

  2. Demonstrated ability to guide a wide range of business functions (Data Stewards) and work with them to ensure complete Master Data. Is a good teacher and patient trainer.

  3. Strong listening and communication skills as well as intercultural awareness for effective collaboration with many nationalities, functions and levels. This includes communication of priority issues to the right people with a ‘can do’ attitude.

  4. Strong ability to deal effectively with complexity and drive from chaos to clarification through methodical research and building of robust repeatable processes. Is able to distinguish between process and people problems to provide the most appropriate solution.

  5. Demonstrates credibility and confidence with personal interactions.

  6. A team player capable of recognizing and driving continuous improvement efforts.

  7. Excellent organization skills: self-starter able to maintain personal discipline to priorities.
