As a Siemens Product Engineering Services (PES) intern working on our premiere, world class CAD product called NX, the future of our software is you! Our Strategic Student Program will allow you to work with one of the very few pure software development firms in Cincinnati! Our long term goal is to provide you building blocks for each successive rotation/ semester you return to Siemens PLM Software that you will delve deeper into quality assurance, software development and, if you would choose we also offer rotations into the business side of our products, giving you exposure to business analysis. You will begin your initial rotation familiarizing yourself with the company, completing smaller scale tasks and projects. As your skills increase, your responsibility and assignments will grow with you on each consecutive rotation with PLM.
Intern Duties and Responsibilities:
As a intern in Product Engineering Services you will get exposure to all phases of PES’s Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Depending on the phase PES is at in our SDLC, tasks given to students can consist of: gathering requirements and\or prototyping, coding implementation, development of automation testing of project code, and environment support. A full cycle of PES’s SDLC will typically be longer than one semester. So returning semesters will often have a different focus than the previous semester. For example, one semester you may work on implementing functionality for a project, while the next semester may focus on improving the quality of the software and prototyping ideas for the next release. Additionally, you will:
• Write clean, robust and maintainable code to minimize the cost of defects over time.
• Work with the mentor to understand the needs and functionality of the area assigned to student.
• Follow the enumerated steps in the SDLC process including writing design documents and coding, so that the developed automation tools can be utilized in other /future projects.
• You must be pursuing your undergraduate degree.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• You must be a US citizen or green card holder.
• Studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• Ability to program in C++ or Java
• Must have demonstrated skills in design and programming
• Must have familiarity with Object Orient concepts
• Ability to continually improve and learn new areas
• Ability to work well in a team
• Ability to effectively communicate, especially the ability to articulate technical content
• Experience with C# or Python is a plus
• Familiarity with Excel Programming or Perl is a plus but not required.
