Today, we are recruiting for a Design Engineer- Rail Electrification to join our team in Egypt. This is an excellent career opportunity for professionals looking to join a truly international team in one of the biggest projects of Siemens Mobility.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Prepare project-related layout design and documentation for overhead catenary systems (in the field of railway electrification projects) considering customer specifications and Siemens’ regulations and standards.

  • Design models and drawings incl. 3D data-driven models, layout plans, bonding plans, cross sections, clearance study & profiles, isolation diagrams, and instructions.

  • Allocate the design for contact line systems with an open rail designer (MicroStation-based) and/or AutoCAD.

  • Handle the OHE/OCS/OLE data within the Building Information Modelling Process (BIM).

  • Elaborate on the conceptual solutions and find answers to ambitious requirements.

  • Conduct internal and external interfaces related to railway electrification and contact line systems.

  • Technical support, analysis of technical problems, and answering technical inquiries in collaboration with the installation, the project engineering team, and the project management.

  • Plan and control one’s engineering work packages given date, cost, and quality aspects.

  • Responsible for product support given standardization and documentation.

  • Fluency in Arabic.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of overhead catenary design/ layout design.

  • Knowledge of overhead contact line systems layout design.

  • Knowledge of BIM Modelling.

  • Professional experience in Open Rail Designer, or any MicroStation modeling software and/or ACAD.

  • Advanced 3D imagination.

  • Knowledge of relevant European and international standards and railway safety principles.

  • Knowledge of traction power supply AC and DC.

  • Knowledge of engineering processes.

  • Experience in international project working environment.

  • Intercultural experience.

  • High level of customer and quality orientation.

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.
